BMW non-hybrids have the "auto" start-stop feature we are discussing where there isn't an electric battery/motor and the ICE simply just shuts off when you get to a stop (if the engine is at normal operating temperature).
Here is a better explanation of the difference between the two:
Having driven BMW non-hybrids with the auto start-stop system, I absolutely despise it and always look to disable it.

Yeah I like it too - the GSh and hybrids in general don't have auto start-stop that we're talking about in this thread. It's the "normal" start-stop with electric batteries/motors that are used to propel the car to 30+ mph until the ICE engine kicks in (fairly seamlessly). All hybrids are designed for the normal start-stop functionality.
