Default Apple CarPlay

I own 2016 F Sport - any chance Lexus will ‘upgrade’ our Infotainment system to allow this feature OR is this a no go? - seems like it would simply be a software update that we could add or buy thru Lexus - I know the newer models have this feature - any comments or thoughts would be appreciated.

I would give a 99.999999% chance this won't ever happen.

Your best bet is to get one of the add-on modules discussed on this forum. Everyone has a bit different view on which one, but there are a couple good options.

Search for GROM. That should bring up the discussions of the 3 players.

Never will happen. The only way to go an aftermarket add-on.

You can bet there will be no upgrades from Lexus, or they would have offered it already. Everyone wants Apple Carplay or Android Auto.
If I were going to upgrade our '13 GS or '18 RX, I would ask the local car stereo shops.
I got 1 bid for about $800 from a good local shop, but I forget eaxctly what it entails.
Lexus is really behind the world in their radio offerings. Pretty lame for cars this expensive.

Good luck.

Completely agree with this statement, when other manufactures are able to push out AA or Carplay for older model vehicles. I'm still waiting for AA for my '19 UX. It's in the 2020.

100% not going to happen. Kill all hopes cause they killed the GS already.

Two words that don't exist nor ever apply in Lexus dictionary. Upgrade and Infotainment.

Yes there are some aftermarket add-on modules you could try. I purchased the carlinkit one but it has been confirmed that only works perfectly on 16+ GS.
I got a 13 GS, the joystick control is barely useable. I'm gonna sell it for 220. PM me if you're interested.

Would this work on a 2013 if you upgraded the Display to 2017 + ? Or head unit and Display? Or wont work on any 2013 upgraded or not? Thanks.

It should work. In this thread, post #612. peasodos said he swapped his head unit and screen to 2016 and works.
