H&R 5mm Spacers are hub-centric if you got the right ones. I definitely would have strongly advised you against modifying the caliper. There is no reason you should have any problems with the right spacer.
I don't have the room, need for suck technology lol. A fresh blade on a hack saw will do the job just take some time. I could sand the cut part to finish it off, then put it in my fiance' china cabinet.
They are aluminum so it shouldn't be hard to cut and polish them.

yeah I have zero issues with the spacers. Been using them for 4 years. Just the tire shop.
Got a cheap junkyard special and used a hack saw to cut the cross section.
The yellow line is 5.5-6 mm. The orange line is 4.5-5 mm. The Black line is what I plan on filing down so I can either get rid of the spacer(5mm) entirely or enough to use a 3mm spacer so the center bore of the wheel is seated on the hub instead of being lug centric.
Actually my caliper is already shaved a little in this area from when I originally had my rims installed and the tire shop tried to drive it off the lift. That's when we realized I need the spacer.
