DIY Change License Plate OEM LED to Aftermarket LED
#16
I was able to get the correct fitting part but its not working still so this is perhaps a fuse problem?

I think if the fuse was bad, it would likely impact other nearby bulbs as well (trunk light, rear lights, etc). It looks like you've proven its not the bulb since both OEM/aftermarket bulb assemblies aren't working.
It sounds like there is something wrong with the board that supplies power to the bulbs or the wires have shorted that connect to the LED bulb assembly. Its a rare failure, but i'd say take it to the dealership or your local mechanic to see if they can diagnose the cause.

If only one doesn't turn on, check the connector itself to make sure it doesn't have corrosion.
If both don't turn on, then you might have to do some tracing. I didn't see any specifically called out plate light in the fuse list:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/fuse-bo...012-2017-fuses
At least one simple test would be to see if you get continuity to ground from one of the contacts. I don't have a wiring diagram, but I'd think one should be grounded.
Just a thought, but if it costs too much to get it diagnosed/fixed, I wonder if you could just tap off the running lights. Not the proper way, I know, just throwing it out there as sometimes diagnosing an electrical problem can turn into a big hassle.

I appreciate the information but admittedly this is a bit more involved that I would like to get with my vehicle.
That being said...something odd I noticed. I only see 1 connector for both my lights and that's the right light. I don't see any cable that would go into my left license plate light.

Ah, maybe that's the case. I haven't taken it apart to see.
So one connector from the car going to one of the lights, and then that light has a wire going to the other light? I know you said no troubleshooting, just trying to see how it's set up out of curiosity.
