Default HOT AIR in driver side but COLD in passenger side.

HI, I have 2016 GS 350 and when i turn on AC the driver side is blowing hot air but the Passenger side is blowing cold air. I do research on youtube and some advices that the flap on driver side that control AC is not working. Any ideas please advice me and how much to fix this problem in the Lexus dealer? Thanks,

Maybe it's a servo motor issues - search the forum on the issue. Good news - if it is, it might be under the recall:

I got a letter for that couple weeks ago. That went to great pains to tell me "IT ISNT A RECALL" hahahaha.

Had mine checked, said it needed initialized but it was good to go.... fwiw

OP, I would definitely go in and tell them this and let them track down issue. They should give you a loaner or whatever you need. If it is related to teh servo motor they have been sending letters for, it should be a free fix.

I had this problem twice on my 2016 GS F sport where the AC was blowing warm air and not cold air. They fixed it for me under warranty. 2 weeks ago, I got a letter from Lexus that there is a problem with the servos doing this. I saved the piece of paper.

You can try resetting the servo motors first.

Hi 703. Is the dealer needed to do this or can we do it ourselves. If we can, what is the procedure?

Thanks

Default Hot air in driver side and Cold air in passenger side

I brought my 16 GS 350 to the Lexus dealer two days ago and they checked the servo control for the AC after waiting for 2 hrs, the Rep told me the servo control AC need update and after updated but the problem still exist they will change the servo controler. After updated it work and no cost even my car expired from the Lexus warranty 4years or 36K miles. Thank you very much for your advices. This is the best forum that save a lot of time and money.

Can be done using TechStream:INITIALIZATION SERVO MOTOR
  1. Turn the power switch off.
  2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
  3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
  4. Press the blower OFF switch.
  5. Turn the GTS on.
  6. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Utility / Servomotor Initialization.
  7. According to the GTS display, perform servo motor initialization.

    Tech Tips

During initialization, the AUTO indicator light comes on, and then goes off when initialization has finished.
  8. According to the GTS display, select the "Exit" switch to finish initialization.

There is no controller that is replaceable for the A/C, its part of the entire A/C assembly.

The AC Amplifier controls all the servo motors. When you reinitialize the servo motors in Techstream I think that's whats getting reprogrammed.

Here is the diagram of the ac system from the fsm:

Looked at the bulletin. It’s a new calibration file for the Ac amp. I reckon it just restricts the movement to prolong the life of the crappy servos. Kicking the can down the road so to speak.

How does Lexus go from having perfectly good servo motors in a 2013 to screwing it up in the newer years. My 2013 has no issues like this and just over 109k miles. I guess a bad batch of servo motors made it into some cars.

Thankfully I haven't had this issue on any of mine.

Will resetting the servos "fix" the problem or is it more of a band-aid?

I unplugged my battery for 10 mins in order to "reset" the servos and now all vents seem to be operating ok.

Also, I'm still hoping to receive that letter from Lexus.
