Default Wheel Fitment Questions

I have a conservatively lowered GS450h on Tein Flex Z coilovers. FYI, I find the Tein Flex Z coilovers to be pretty nice riding coilovers. I want to replace the stock 18" wheels & Conti DSW with another wheel that looks more aggressive. I am really on the fence of sticking with 18s to maintain the existing ride quality or step up to 19s to improve the look of the wheel/tire combo. I have bent a BBS wheel on my 2001 GS430 so I have plenty of experience with the cruddy roads in the DC, Maryland, Virginia area.

I have spent a fair amount of time reading various forum threads regarding wheel fitment including the https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...el-thread.html

I am confused that some can get away with +38 front offsets while others rub their calipers on a +40 offset wheel while our cars came with +45 front offset wheels. Is wheel design the factor of this? I do understand wheel width comes into play but...

I found a set of used squared Rays 18x10, +40 offset that I am crazy about but I am concerned that the front will need spacers and 245/40 will be stretched on a 10" rim. I don't want to lower the car any farther and do not want to modify the fenders to deal with rubbing. Anyone think these are going to work with no issues?

Thanks.....

Neil

Caliper rubbing is an issue of the inner spoke design and sometimes you won't know if it'll rub or not until you put it on; this is where a spacer will save the day.

Also, an x10 et40 isn't that aggressive for the fronts of our cars and if you stretch a 245 width tire on it, I don't think it'll rub the fender unless you go real low. the typical x9 with a low 30 offset, front set up for our cars, is pretty close to the x10 et40

I'd play around with willtheyfit.com and see if the calculator works in your favor with your theoretical spacers.
