KYB Gas-a-Just shocks/struts AVS 3 week Review

So about a month ago the Lexus Dealer showed me I had 3 leaking Struts. 2 not so bad in their opinion. 1 kind of sorta worst of all. Recommendation was to replace the 1 worst one. Cost was about $860 for one parts and labor No way I was going to replace just 1 Strut as if the other 2 leaking were going to get better and not leak more in time. Thanks to a few other Members who pm'd with me asking questions I though about my options and what to do.
The really annoying thing about this to me was through many Lexus I've owned, I have never had this problem with any of them. In addition to all the others here I see had the same problem. Not only that ,the worst was that my car only had 37k miles on it.
I called KYB to ask some questions and looked at Lexus parts. Seems like from Lexus there must be 5 or 6 different Struts they used from 2013 - 2020. Members help me determine the the early years had stiffer more performance oriented make up.
So with that. I ordered 4 new KYB Gas-a-Just shocks/struts AVS from Amazon. I also bought the protection plan for 5 years was told backed by Allstate on the new Struts. Had them installed 3 weeks ago, and just posting now to give it time to review. I like the new Struts. My old Struts were giving me a minor drive left on hard Braking that's gone. The ride is nice and tight, and back to how it was new. With the Pirelli P7's it sticks and has very little body roll for a stock car. Hate to say it but it feels like a BMW but better. On Sport + it really tightens up and I can push it harder with expectations being consistent. If I remember correctly the 4 New KYB's were just around $550 with the Protection plan.
Just thought I would share the KYB option with others that run into the too early leaking Struts expense.

I considered getting Lowering Springs installed too, as it would have not cost me extra due to them having to take the springs off. But a decided I did not want the ride so stiff, as the 2013 already had the firmness of years suspension.

About how much did they charge you to install them? What was the model number of the KYB shocks? I have a 2013 with almost 90k miles and AVS. I hope I don't develop problems with mine but in case I do I want to be ready and I don't really feel up to replacing them myself but might consider it I had a good guide and depending on the difficulty.

We really have nothing to complain about now, do we with $100 replacement KYBs. I believe a shock absorber's life is only 100000km anyways, absolutely excellent development for those enjoying their depreciated GS.

My 2015 has only done 50,000 miles, and we frequently travel with 3 or 4 adults and 1 or 2 kids, and a trunk full of lawn mowers etc, but the rear shock absorbers are beginning to occasionally make a clunking bottoming out noise.
The 2013-2015 model years were the firmest shock absorbers, with the smallest valve diameters to restrict the flow of oil for greater float control.
Could it be that firmer shock absorbers have higher stresses, hence last not as long as softer riding shock absorbers?

On KYB's website there seem to be only one part for each of the front shocks and same part for the rear for AVS equipped GS350s. It seems like you suggested that KYB has various models that would work so I'm a little confused. Also, $864 per corner (labor & parts) sounds like a lot. I looked up costs of Lexus parts and it l think you could get all four shocks for under $1000.00. Do you have the KYB part numbers for those shocks you got on Amazon? I searched Amazon for them but I can't find the part number for the ones I found on KYBs site and even if I in put my car on Amazon, none of them end up being compatible anyway.

I do wish everyone who has this problems reports it to Dealers and calls Lexus. Again owning many Lexus I know Struts have a limited life but I have never had leaking failing Struts. As I said before I had a 2013 ES350 U\L I drove the crap out of loaded up often. It had 148k. No strut noise, No leak, No problem still drove like new.
