Default Cover falling off

The cover just forward of the SOS button and rearward of the mirror attachment to the windshield is coming loose and will not "lock in" by simply hitting it. If I pull this off, will I have a difficult time replacing it (if

needed)?

Did you ever remove it? Maybe pop it completely out and put it back in..

I've never removed it. However, I did have my windshield replaced in July, 2018.

My windshield was replaced when I bought my car and I had the same thing. It just wasn’t re-installed correctly by the windshield technician as it’s a little fiddley. Just pop it off and take a look at what the tabs on the back look like. One side kind of has this hook thing and you need to get that side in correctly before you do the other so it can seat correctly. Should just take a minute and there is nothing particularly fragile involved in popping it off.

I removed the right (passenger) side and there is an inner hook like thing that is bent 90 degrees to the right. Is it easy to take off and put back without removing the rear view mirror?

Ohh yeah you certainly don’t have to remove the rear view mirror. This is just a little piece of trim, your not going to break anything. You may not even have to remove it more than you already have it if you can see the hook. Just make sure that hook is going where it’s supposed to, that’s the reason it’s not seating correctly

I've gotten the right (passenger) side in tight (the hook). But the driver's side (with the open square) is still loose.
