This generation was the last of the best...
I think this current and final generation Lexus GS, 2013 - 2020, will be a very, very popular car a decade from now.
Look at the current market for 2000-2006ish era off-road trucks and SUVs. You can practically name your price if you have a nice example of a 15 year old Land Cruiser / 4Runner / Tacoma.
This last generation GS is the last example of a straightforward, old-school, rear wheel drive luxury sedan with a pretty grunty naturally-aspirated V6. No chargers, turbos, none of that..... that stuff is half plastic and will fall apart in a decade. But not this Lexus or this engine.
Everything luxury a decade from now is going to be some some variation of electric, hybrid, small turbo 4.
People will look fondly back on what this car is.

And a turbo 4 cyl. Just checked under the hood and it dosent seem to be half plastic, it just has two less cylinders and a lot more torque than the V6. It's a great car but I couldn't care less if it lasts 10 more years. My first car was a turbo I-5, it lasted 15 years and nearly 200K miles before I traded it. Operating life is more correlated to how an owner takes care of their vehicle. Cars don't simply fall apart because of what engine it has, but a pattern of owner neglect for basic maintenance and inspections may increase the likelihood of mechanical failure.

It’s impressive how well the 4th gens have held their value, the 3rd gens are basically the same vehicle but they are pretty cheap these days. I think the 16-20 models will hold their value quite well especially since they are much harder to come by than the 13-15s. They really did a great job with the interior quality of this generation, i had a 3rd gen GS460 which while a great car the overall materials inside of the 4th gen was a big step up

I found a lot of car values go up from random factors. Take jdm sports cars, because of fast and the furious, some of them are really expensive now. If in 10 years time a big blockbuster action scene comes out featuring a 2016 Lexus gs350 f sport, then they might sky rocket in value? Their also the last of the old school car, just the right balance of tech. From now on, its all about prioritizing emissions and having a ridiculous amount of tech, and going electric + fwd. In hindsight i should have never sold my tt supra for $20k as their easily worth $100K + now, but back then, they were a dime a dozen. Who knew?

The Supra was famous even before the Fast and Furious movie came out. Those that played OG Gran Turismo know this car very well. This and the Mitsubishi GTO.
Too bad I was only 10 when the MKIV Supra came out and by the time I make $$$ it's long gone but I'm in a GS now.
If Toyota put a 3JZ-GTE on the new Supra I'll probably consider getting one but it's very unlikely. Too much Germans in that car already.

Yeah I'm in a real conundrum with my GS. I still have 2 years left on my lease but I dunno if I should buy it at the end and keep it or trade it for an IS500... the biggest issue is that it's not just a GS, it's a GS350 F-Sport Black Line Special Edition so it's extra rare 🤔 I already even had the dealership call me because someone wanted to buy my GS since they were specifically looking for a Black Line so this makes me think that if I keep it, in the long run it'll be worth some good money... decisions, decisions...
