Default Missing the GS

I thought the new IS would be a good replacement for the discontinued GS, but alas, it’s too small.

Agree, we can beat this subject to death, but Lexus left a major void in there lineup for sporty luxury car, ES will never cut it against the 5 or E class.

The GS model has been a great vehicle but Lexus pulled due to slow sales over the years. Lexus doesn't have a replacement. The ES F sport is not the same car replacing the GS.

IMO, the GS is a sportier vehicle than the ES and handles better with AWD or RWD.

Back in 2016, Lexus discontinued 5GS development to focus on electrification.

There are rumors for a 2022-23 Mazda developed midsize sedan powered by a mild hybrid 3.0 in-line six with RWD to be reskinned into 5GS, in exchange for Toyota-derived hydrogen fuel cell technology for Mazda.

I'm going to upgrade to the GSF in the future despite the outdated infotainment

This topic has been done to death. They are not even the same size thus no one intended the IS to be a replacement.

You could buy a new Genesis G70 or G80. Just saying. It is RWD, has power, and a new entertainment system. You just have to drive your Lexus to the Hyundai dealer and go inside to find the Genesis brand. Has a long warranty. Or keep the IS and feel cramped. Nice we all have choices. I will stick with my 2013 GS 450h cause I am not demanding. At a certain point, it is just a means of transportation and to me it is a joy to drive still. Though, I did have five adults in it a couple of weeks back, and they were cramped in the back seat. May have been the RWD hump in the middle. But I digress.

Damn, I thought that might be the case, I need lots of leg room. Well, my GS only has 33K on it, so I guess I'm good for a few more years.

Genesis probably a good choice. Friend of mine just got a G70, God the interior is beautiful in this thing.

Same here. Could not go back no matter how good the new IS is.

I sold my '13 GS F-Sport a few months ago. Sold it in one day for more than I was expecting of course due to the inventory shortage. Ended up getting a Tesla Model Y. I really, really, like the insta-torque of the Tesla and doing crazy pulls but I still miss the paddle shifters and spirited driving of the GS. I wanted to keep it and just use it when I felt like it but could not justify having the asset sit there 90% of the time and paying insurance, etc.
I still have my GX470 for 4wd fun and my son's tuned manual trans GTI for spirited driving when I feel like it. Just waiting for the cyber truck to start delivering pre-orders. Then I can sell my GX and see how it is to take that thing off roading.
