Default Installing a dashcam, mirror method

Hi, I’m a total noob but was quoted $225 for a install of my dashcam. I was wondering what other people’s experiences and process of installing their own dashcam was. I’ve got a HK3 install kit coming in a few days and I’ve got a trim remover. Just trying to figure out the exact process others went through to install this
all help is appreciated and any threads that might help will also be appreciated, thanks a lot

I plan to use the mirror as power source using this kit.
looks straight forward.
does anyone know how many pins our mirror uses?

I recently installed a Thinkware U1000 with a OBD2 cord. The cord was specific to my dashcam but was simple to install. The wires are extremely easy to hide. I’m very particular about exposed wires but don’t mind this install. Only took 15minutes

hiding the wires was simple. I removed the pillar cover witch snaps out. Then I simply tucked the wires into the head liner without removing anything.

I did remove the lower cover under the dash to cleanly hide wires to the OBD port. It was only 3 screws.

Trying to connect a Thinkware U1000 with the Thinkware OBD II power cable below and it's not powering the dash cam. Which OBD cable did you use on your GS350 to power your U1000 dash cam?

That's the same cable I purchased. Dash cam worked with the included 12 volt car charger. Maybe I got a bad Thinkware OBD II cable. I'll get another cable and return the bad one, hopefully the new one will fix the issue. Thanks for your reply!
