This issue came up recently and it’s odd. Seems to only happen when I try to start the car when I haven’t shut the door yet. Once I’m in the car and shut the door it starts no problem. Any ideas why this is happening, starter?

Won’t let me post video from my phone so I’ll have to describe i suppose. Car flashes as if it’s going to turn on, has a couple of clicks then shuts down. Does that a few more times with more clicking and eventually it starts up after a minute or two of trying to press the button. Anyone experienced this? Thanks for your help. flashes all the lights a few times. Needles illuminated once before finally starting. Makes odd clicking noises basically for a minute while it acts like it’s going to start then black to blank screen sometimes with key symbol

any idea on repair costs from experience? Ty

Just had it tested and supposedly 83%. Any other ideas?

Guy at o Reilly’s said got a fail for voltage regulator. May be alternator related?

How old is the battery? Did they just check voltage or did they load test it?

Can’t tell how old the battery is, bought this car a few months ago. He had me start the car and turn on the headlights after the initial test

I'm just going to say that the two times I had this happen(flickering dash, ticking sound when starting), I had a weak battery.

Likely the reason your car starts up fine with doors closed is because there is less drain from all the cabin lights. I would change out the battery before you end up getting stranded somewhere.

Thanks man, open to any other opinions as well. Looks like an oem battery that has 84 month warranty which would put it about a year out of that if new. I’ll try that first

I agree. I had a similar issue and resolved after changing the battery.

And batteries dead today lol. Good call, getting a jump and having it changed

Battery's on cars like these can do all kinda weird things to sensors and other electrical that run +/- milliamps.
