Default Aftermarket Rear Diffusers for our cars are a rip off

Seriously why in the heck are aftermarket Diffusers (lower rear valances that replace the fake exhaust tips with the ability to add a quad exhaust) are so expensive? Im seeing them starting at $1k. This cost more than a decent front and rear bumper combined. IMO, this should be a $300 plastic or fiberglass part at the most. Come on man; I'm seeing that other car rear diffuser that don't even cost 1/4 of this. This is straight up highway robbery. I want to do this mod but for that price, I can add some aftermarket Niche wheels. No way I'm paying that type of money for a piece of plastic.. That's my rant on overpriced Diffusers. In my defense, these prices were high ASF before the "pandemic", so I doubt that would justify the mark up. Yall feel free to comment.

I fully agree. All of them start at 1k. I've been meaning to go quad exhaust, but the prices deter me. The fact it's fiberglass also makes me not want to buy it cuz I'm low and a bad bump will crack it. Been trying to keep an eye out for a used one.

1+. You are so right. The one I like for just the diffuser is $3000 plus!

Aimgain isn't $3k for the diffuser, unless you're trying to add their exhaust too, or can just do custom tips.

Lexon diffuser is $960, they have reps I believe but fitment isn't as great.

I wish Lexus didn't go with the fake exhaust tips with the GS models. Performance models like the GS and LS deserves a real exhaust. This is one thing they got right with the IS.

Agreed, price is crazy for this mod.

Went shopping with the wife recently where we browsed Gucci, Burberry, Armani and other retail stores. As I looked around their $2k coats and $900 shirts, I thought "who would pay such an exorbitant amount for this stuff?".

The simple and constant answer; they're priced that way because someone is and are willing to pay for it.

And with all that's going on, it only seems the price will increase.

I don't see the point of an aftermarket product.

The one that comes with it is optimized for airflow with the whole underbody, aligned to the airflow of the fins under the number 1. engine cover. You're going to screw this up with aftermarket products. Form over function?

Some people want to run different exhaust tips. Based on the info you posted I find odd because the 450h has a completely different diffuser design?

forgot his @ but Leon carbon fiber on IG makes a nice carbon fiber quad tip diffuser for $750 I believe. I may get it in the future but have been hesitant on mods for a while now

True. Yes the GS450h is slightly different and less obvious.

The first one I posted is from the GS450h, second one is from the GS350.
