I've had 3 GS350 AWD F Sports, all of them stock, none with high mileage though. No leaks on any of them.
2015 GS, 22k miles
2019 GS, 8k miles
2020 GS, 1.6k miles.

[QUOTE=panyo64;11166877]Now that we have 8 years of data to draw from, I thought it might be a good idea to try to collate all of our anecdotal knowledge on our AVS Shocks. The handling was a major factor in buying a GS.

Currently 116k+ miles, last inspected struts when I did a full brake job around 100k. I inspected it and no leaks. I did the brake job in my apartment complex parking lot, with oem emergency jack(with drill attachment). Did one corner at a time. I also used cordless impact drill for the front caliper bolts, as far as brake jobs go, this car was easy to work on.

Yep is what I thought, np until the next up on lift Oil change showed 3 of 4 going bad. Prior to that time I would be saying I have np also.
The other issue is those that got the car used? Were they done before? Warranty, or out of pocket? Again how many non CL members don't we know about?

It would be nice if Lexus acknowledged the problem with the OE AVS shocks and (like Lexus did with the A/C servo problem) extended replacement coverage for a lengthy period of time.

2a. If so, at what mileage? At 32k I swapped the old shocks out for brand new KYBs while doing my spring install. Before that from new to 35k, I was on stock suspension. I do most of my own work within my ability and wasn't willing to do the whole spring install process and potentially have to go back in and pull out the old struts 5-10k miles later so I changed them at the same time. Plus they were cheap got all 4 corners shipped to my house for like $300. Changed all endlinks and outer tie rods at the same time too. All of them were still good but def showing wear. I'm hoping to get better life out of the install by just spending an extra $450 bucks or so and changing these things at the same time. All parts were worn but still had service life left. I just didn't want to go into the new springs and changing up suspension geometry on the worn parts when I was already tearing the car apart.
(Fronts AWD AVS struts were Part # KYB 7210002 and KYB 72100003, Rears were Toyota part # 48530-80782 Shock Absorber) Lowering springs ->RSR downs

2017 GS F on stock springs - 45k miles
Front right and rear right at 19k miles
both rear shocks at 44k miles
Completely crazy to me that these cars go through shocks so quickly. San Antonio does have some crappy roads tho.

Will your Lexus dealer be taking care of replacing the failed AVS shocks?
