I like the G80 a lot. From its exterior/interior styling, newer tech, and reliability(?), it seems like a great successor in the midsize luxury sedan market if we're ever to leave our beloved GS's.
What are you guys thoughts?

I presently own a GS350 and a Genesis G70. Genesis is constantly stepping up their game and although G70 is in different class than the GS350, I am duly impressed with fit and finish. My replacement for the Lexus will be a G80 and perhaps the EV when available.

My wife has a 2021 G90 that she loves, but compared to Lexus, the dealer and service experience has a lot to be desired. Where I live in the New York Hudson Valley, Genesis is a sideline of a Hyundai dealership. Other than concierge pickup of the car for service, the experience at the dealership is decidedly second class with zero differentiation between Hyundai and Genesis. We did get a G80 loaner which was nice to look at, but I didn't drive it.

Hyundai really is a top notch manufacturer these days. They're consistently my first pick when renting a car. I imagine Genesis would be even better.
As far as owning one goes, personally there is not enough long term reliability data for me to feel comfortable buying one. Not necessarily a fault of the car but I need to know that it's going to age well since I like buying higher mileage Toyotas.
On a side note, the new Mazda 6 replacement is going to be a RWD luxury sedan.

It's either the Germans or Genesis if I want a RWD sedan at this point, and although I love the Germans' styling and tech, their reliability is horrible. Genesis seems to be the better choice for reliability, and their tech and styling are close enough to just be a matter of preference at this point. Lexus quite literally does not give me a choice, as they have stopped making my car. I wish it was the ES or IS that got scrapped, but for some reason they chose the GS so I have to look to someone else that offers what I want.
The upcoming Mazda 6 replacement sounds intriguing, and the concepts look fantastic, so I would be willing to consider them, but I'm afraid their powertrain choices would leave me very underwhelmed. I could see it limited to a 2.5L -- even their big CX-9 is only a 2.5L, or it may be full EV by the time it drops.
So for the foreseeable future, it's either Genesis or change segments. Really sucks that Lexus abandoned me.

I recommend watching this:

Certainly a upgrade compared to our outdated GS. Although I think the GS has a better looking exterior.

I wonder how the turbo 4 drives compared to a V6.

Depends on your priorities. The G80 is a lovely car. My father in law had one with the NA V6. No complaints. However, it is a substantially heavier car. While it has more grunt with the 3.5TT, it is also 4450 lbs. One of the reasons I chose my car was the fact that it was so light compared to other cars of similar size (3890lbs); handling is second only to seat comfort in my priorities.. A GS350 AWD is only 11lbs heavier than a 2021 IS350 AWD, which is one of the reasons the car is so nimble for its size.
The experience of driving a G80, any G80, is more akin to an LS than a GS, as they are silent, luxurious, and heavy.

I really like Hyundai/Kia/Genesis a lot. We owned a 2015 Kia Optima SXL 2.0T, my Sister owns a 2021 G80 I drive sometimes and we now own a newer 2020 Kia Optima SX 2.0T. They are not Lexus. The fit and finish is not so great. There a too many little issues, even more than the GS as if you read the 4th Gen thread you would not see 10 problems on the 1st 2 pages. The Kia and Genesis go to the shop for things like, the trim discolored already, the seals are twisting, the Headlights got water in them. Some of the Taillight LED's went out. The G80 infotainment system freezes up. Some things were in the shop for the same problem 3x's no less.
Even with those problems I still like the 2 cars G80 and Optima 2.0T. We even bought another one the 2020 recently. If I had to own one I could and would drive it just fine. The Optima handles very well and is like driving a BMW feeling a lot. Also the G80 is not Lexus quite as you would expect, and neither is the 2020 Optima that has Dual Pane Window glass. I never have a problem with how the Service departments act. We have also called Kia Customer service and they were nice and helpful. Just done expect it to be a Lexus quality car. Not yet anyway, but give it some time.
About the Hyundai K/G 4cly Turbo engine. Nice! So I ran from a 40mph even run against my Wife in her 2015 Optima 2.0T. I had put some cut off Tanabe Mufflers on it and a K&N air filter. My 13 GS just had K&N and high flow 2ndary Cats at that time. From the 40mph start my car took off 2 car lengths, about 5 sec's later the Optima made Boost and walked away from my GS. A 2.0T rated at 274 rated car vs my 13 GS350 at 306hp. I was shocked! lol! Another reason I started performance modding my GS350.

I can tell you that the 3.3 dual turbo in the G70 is unbelievable! Not the ride of my GS350 but sure fun to zip around in.
