I was wondering what part number is the actual shim kit that supposedly stops the squeaking...
It seems like all forums point to this 04945-30340 which has 4 pieces, but all the diagrams show 8 pieces of shim in front axle with part number 04945-30350.
I am genuinely confused. Do we just need 4 shims in total instead of 8? Do we use the other 4 pieces from before combined with 04945-30340?
Thank you so much guys...

This is what you need:

You don't have to buy it directly from this link, but that's one of the cheapest route. Maybe ask your local dealer if they will price match.

I believe that kit comes with the new pads with shims. You could call them up to make sure. I'd check for you but I don't have my GS anymore. Sold it couple years ago. FWIW, I'm pretty sure you can use any ceramic pads with OEM rotors. But don't go the other way around. 3rd party rotors with any pads will lead to squeals.

04945-30340 is the TSB shim kit. I picked up one from the local dealership instead for $27

Another option to pick them up altogether minus the front rotors (I should've gone this route)
I wished I picked up the old original pads with the new shim kit, because it feels that the TSB pads don't have a good bite when I hit the brakes now. Had minor squeals after the change especially after a cold start, but it's gone away now after a month or so. Or maybe I quit listening to it haha

Thanks. So it seems like only 1 piece of the shim is required for each pad with the TSB? I just got a filter, 30340, and 30540 for $103 with shipping. Looks like a great deal.

By the way, the last two links you gave have the original pads of 30491. I think they are really fine unless someone was experiencing a loud squeak with OEM setup before. Anyways, the 30540 is definitely the way to go now!

A local Lexus dealer, Lexus of Stevens Creek, knew which pads and shims I needed; they gave me the TSB documentation.
They are one of the biggest parts sellers in the nation. Good prices.
