We'll see if the dealer just wants to replace everything and charge an arm and a leg for mirror and washers or if they will actually try to fix both. Radiator cap should be cheap or under a TSB.

Called my credit union earlier today about adding an extended warranty. Doesn't cover things like mirrors and headlamp washers dang it.
Got the same problem with my mirror.
Must be a common failure point.
CUrious to know what they want for this repair.

Someone said the gears get stripped and its not a complicated fix. Knowing Penske Group (which owns both Lexus dealers in the Austin area, so much for competition) they will prob just want to replace the whole assembly for $2,000 or so. I will report back.

I have to say for all the negative things I had to say about this vehicle ( and rightly so) the one thing I cannot knock it for and can say with 100% certainty and factual is,its been the best vehicle by a long country mile in regards to cost of ownership and reliability. Where the only expenses I've ever had since my ownership (going on 4.5 years) have being nothing but routine maintenance items; Oil changes, fluids, light bulbs, windshield wipers, brakes etc..for a total cost of less than $2k and 70% of those expenses was towards all new OEM 4 pads/rotors/sensors/install of the brakes. To put it into perspective coming from 20+ years of owning elusively various BMW models, I've spent more in 3 months of routine and upkeep BMW maintenance in my last 550i GT model I owned than that of my entire lifespan of my 2015 GS.

A few years back the driver's side strut gave out. I forgot how much it cost me to replace both but think it was close to $1200 to repair at the dealership. Otherwise it's been problem free 70k miles on my 2013 F sport.

Wheel bearings (200-300ea) and abs sensors(300ish) have been the most costly repair that actually failed. I think the radiator fans are going out too so that’s another 500 easily when it goes. Also the fuel pressure sensor that was 300 for a new one.
I replaced alternator for another 300-400

I've had the car since 89k miles as of June 2020. It's at 104k now. $50 on the sunroof gasket was the only thing that really needed fixing. The rest has been maintenance (tires, battery, and filters). I also had a steering wheel chirp when I first bought the car but the dealership took care of that repair for me within the 5 day warranty.

I'm loving how this car costs almost nothing to run .

Edit: Oh, I forgot an HID bulb went out and I replaced both of them with Osram Night Breaker Lasers for $140.

They must have blasted it with 250+ Ft lb. It takes a lot to break a stud

Sounds like you own a German car.
119k+ miles and nothing but normal maintenance and sunroof seal.Someone backed into the hood that I had repaired but not the cars fault.

Interesting, I also had a wheel bearing failure, and an abs sensor failure on the other side.
Since they are integrated, had to replace the entire assembly. Due to use of dissimilar metals, it was impossible to remove and had to be cut off.

My biggest repair was on my 2015, and it was self inflicted. I had to swerve to avoid a truck coming into my lane, and went smack into the curb at 50 mph. Shredded both tires and wheels on the driver's side. The car only had something like 2000 miles on it at the time, and cost me around $2500 to repair. I was extremely fortunate that I did not end up with any suspension damage.

yeah bearings seem to be the first thing to go which makes sense for high mileage ones.

I think the fronts have the speed/abs sensor built in but the rears have it mounted on top of the hub.

also had the windshield replaced by Lexus which was 1.3k when I bought it in 2019.

Electric Steering Rack $2500...I was not expecting that one. Now it sounds like my right wheel bearing is going. How many miles on your cars when bearings went bad? Other than that, only $50 sunroof seal for repairs
