These are supposed to be some of the most reliable cars on the road Just want to get an anecdotal feel of what is the most expensive repair your GS required

I am still chasing an ABS DTC, which I think will end up being my most expensive repair.

What's yours ?

Most expensive fix for me was the O-Ring for the AC system posted here ($500+ at the dealership): https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...l#post11040131

This was $5,000 in damage at a dealer cert. repair center (plus $2k for a rental car). The guy who hit me wanted to bypass insurance and pay me $500 as it "couldn't be more than that."

My most expensive out of pocket was a $500 deductible for a front windshield replacement due to a crack from a rock. That's a $2600 job and insurance paid the rest.

And a new head unit which was covered under warranty. That one I heard is $7000 easy. Other than that, the car has been solid and no issues. Oh and $175 for front brake pads (parts only) since I got screwed by a local dealer parts dept.

My most expensive was the rear driver's wheel bearing and ABS sensor. Total cluster that I did myself.

To be fair, it is a horrible design for maintenance. No reason they couldn't have a more serviceable design with very little difference.

I had one of my wheel studs break off because the shop that painted my OEM wheels put the wheels back on way too tight. I paid maybe $70? This car has been super reliable, that wheel stud was the shop's fault anyway. Even with a ton of modifications, I've had no issues. Just simple maintenance, the beauty of Toyota

How common are these head unit failures?

I can't say cause mine didn't actually fail, it's just the CD player stopped working but I think it's because I left a CD in hot temps for months. But in my other cars they were fine so that one could be a defective CD player from the factory.

Almost 80K and nothing outside of maintenance. Well, the TPMS light is on, but I can bash that out with my trusty ball peen...

I only paid $500 for my replacement head unit.
Apparently, they install a refurbished Pioneer head unit, while the faulty head unit goes back to Pioneer for repairs.
They do not sell brand new Pioneer head units for 4GS.

However, the rear shock absorbers would have been the most expensive repair.

New 4 Struts 2 only 39k. Bought the KYB adjust about $100 each. But it Sucks that there are so many leaking Struts on the GS.

I do not want any expensive repairs, so I maintain the GS meticulously.
