Default Anyone found a solution?

Anyone found a solution to the rear camera unusable when it rains? Is there some aftermarket cover or some coating to help keep the water off?

Try applying some Rain-X water repellant that is normally used on windshield. I keep forgetting to try it since it never rains in CA but I heard it helps a lot with motorcycle helmet visors during rainy season.

I think its a general problem as water collects over the lens. Its never been enough of a problem for me to try to fix it - although I know exactly what you mean.

When I saw your post, the first thing I thought was Rain-X but not sure if that would work on the camera lens - it might be worth a shot or maybe someone has formulated something else for this very scenario. Gotta go "old school" and use the rear view, side view and physically turning around when reversing in the rain.

That is still the best practice today, in any scenario.

Some woman was just relying on her backup cam on her Civic and backed in to my brand new RC350 in a parking lot last time causing thousands of dollars in damages and of course no insurance. When I asked her how come u can't see a giant 3700 lbs object while backing up, she said she thought there's still room based on what the camera showed. Had she used her mirrors and turn her head, she would've avoided that stupid collision.

Funny thing is I was sitting inside the car with the dashcam on and was honking at her but she kept going.

Just go ahead and get that Teslar, you will have a bigger screen with water.

Just saying hi again. I took some Turtle Wax Ceramic and applied on the Cam glass, then did Rain X on it. It stays a little clearer for me on all the cars.

I'm waiting to buy that nice new Black GS350 from you, that you just got. Ga Pollen covered and all. See, my Rant list is longer than yours is!

Agreed 1000% - although we have these modern safety features, its always better to look for yourself and avoid exactly what you mentioned above instead of trusting that your sensors/cams/auto-braking/etc. will do it all for you. I do understand OP's frustration with the cam getting "rained-out" though and it feels like maybe a slight tweak in design would help.

Apply a spay on ceramic coat to the lens. Works wonders.
