Spark Plug Change and Cylinder Head Images On High Mileage GS
Changed the spark plugs on my 2013 GS with 205k miles. They were changed last around ~100k from the previous owner as far as I can tell by the reminder set in the car and the condition of the plugs.
Two of the spark plugs were not tight enough and had some oil leaking in to the top - you can see those cylinder heads had more carbon buildup than the other ones which were very clean and had little to no carbon build up. The coil packs were dry and looked new as well.

Those spark plugs are good for another 200k miles with no decrease in performance or fuel mileage...

Oh wait.... the GS350 Gen 4 is a self cleaning motor according to those experts here.
As I have stated before, I have seen the same on a 90k GS350 motors with a Bore scope, and others have too, if they choose to post about theirs.
Unless we can see the fine wire coil windings, inside the ceramic that's only been fired at 40k volts 100 million times. lol! What's so great about the plugs that have been in there?

This comes up all the time...plug change intervals. TBH, Not being a car expert but knowing enough to be reliably dangerous I would rather just spend the 100 bucks and 2 hours time doing this for my own sanity. I am not letting plugs in any vehicle go past 75-80k ever for my own peace of mind. This is a cheap fix on a Sunday morning in the 4GS.

Gotta love the just drive it till it something F's up crowd always. Wait till a check engine light or something is not right.
Hating on the installed new plugs and cleaned up upper intake, and the car drives so much better. I wonder why? lol!

If the car had no symptoms and was not throwing any trouble codes, you did suggested preventative maintenance but I 100% doubt you experienced anything but the placebo effect. Butt dynos are not evidence of improvement. At a minimum, you would need before and after 0-60 or quarter mile times to verify any real world improvement.

Or improved gas mileage.... I pay almost $6 per gallon. So there's that.
Well done on the tune up service.

Bone stock 2013 GS 124k miles, nothing but oil and air filter changes. Filled up on Monday and soft pedaled it to work on I-95, took this pic in the parking garage. I wonder how much better I could do with new spark plugs?

New plugs might help with an all-out drag race but not on an MPG run if it isn't throwing codes. I've had other cars throw miss codes when you didn't even notice it.

None at all - ZERO! You'd be better served lightening the load by visiting the restroom before traveling to work. Or monitoring the wind direction for a hopeful tailwind.

Are those regular copper plugs?
My GS250 “requires” iridium plugs.
Changed plugs at only 90k km as the service manual says and they were clean. Used but clean, replaced with Iridium plugs of course.
Edit: Nevermind, I looked again and it says Iridium on them and they look like mine did.
