So 1 more dumb question? How does that black square cover on windshield that the wire is under come off? Pop off, or slide down? I don't want to break it.
There is a gap on the side to slide the wire out. I just used a plastic trim tool to pull the wire to the side and out from under it, also to tuck it under there when putting it back together. It's there to hold the wire against the glass so it's not dangling around.

That looks so awesome! Does the side mirrors still dim with the new rearview mirror? Also what car did the new rearview mirror come out of?

Yeah everything works. You can use the mirror out any 2016+ Lexus with frame less mirror since extending and connect wires will be required.

I'm probably going to take the mirror off again and redo my wire extension so the part the wires are joined together is not exposed, basically clean up my wiring job so it looks more oem.

Thanks.

That's why I didn't rush and wanted to plan it out to look factory still. Looks like you have a Radar or Cam mount up there or connect wire? I have a Val 1 radar mount I have to reinstall with mine also. Can't wait to replace that big plastic surround mirror out.

I was more interested in seeing if my wiring was correct, also didn't realize till afterwards. I have a blackvue dash cam behind the rear view mirror, mounted to the mirror stem. It's easy to take the mirror off. The plastic panel with the map light is just clipped in and only one plug and one screw for the mirror.

I have the same problem with the wiring showing, but it not all that bad. I have switched out mirrors on cars before. Here is what mine came out like including a Radar Detector mount. Sorry about the window heat shield. I'm going to measure and get one of these so it will look 100% and hide the wires. Everything works perfect and very nice upgraded look!!

I don't think those covers will fit between the two plastic boxes without some modification. The mirror wire was always exposed on the 2013, but that section is blacked out from the outside looking in.

I bought myself some 22 gauge wire and some wire sleeving tape to make a nice clean oem looking harness without a exposed bulge.

I found this seller on eBay that sells the Gentex covers in all different sizes:

After 5 years of owning the car I'm still discovering OEM options to retrofit into my 2013 GS. Updated rear view mirror, aluminum door handles, ect are not things Lexus discloses on any list of model year changes. I'm sure there are other small bits that were changed that make a difference I haven't discovered yet.

Yes I have used them before. The Amazon link was just in general to use. Not the exact size so to speak. The way I have it now it's really just as unnoticeable as the original one was.

Just wondering why the existing cover doesnt work, arent you using the existing connector (that was transferred from the old mirror to new mirror), so the amount of space it takes should be the same?

Early models had optional driving assist. Vehicles without the driving assist did not have a cover. Later years have standard driving assist has the cover and the connector for the rear view mirror reside in the cover. This is why earlier years, like the 13-14, we had to extend the wires.

Redid the wiring harness. Wire all the way to the left for the mirror, the other two are from my blackview dash cam. Everything runs through the plastic wire holder on the glass.

I finally was able to get a rearview mirror from a 2016 GS200t and did the install. I noticed that the side mirrors did not dim but maybe it wasnt dark enough outside for me to notice? Was sideview dimming mirrors standard on all GS's?
