This is exactly my problem as well. The audio seems to play when it wants, though mostly it turns on when I start the car up. So I know everything works when it works. I normally do not turn my radio off when I stop the car (afraid of the stuck on/off button), but maybe the instant on when starting the car isn’t tripping the right BUS and communicating with the head unit. Does everyone turn their radio off before exiting the vehicle, or it doesn’t really matter? It makes getting in the car like Christmas morning where you are going to get an audio surprise, or a lump of coal.

You could have it on a toggle switch in the dash (even OEM if you could BF)
You could have a positive edge trigger engaging a 556 timer that opens the relay for 5 seconds, so you won't have to think about it again.
I actually got it to work again. I took The amp out and cleaned it. Cleaned the wire connections too. Also cleaned my battery terminals. So far it’s holding up.
