Whats going on with my MPG !??
Guys,
I've owned my 4gs, for over 4 years now and up until friend of mine got a New F-sport I never considered my GS mileage to be strange. I averaged for as long as i can remember about 220-230- per tank. puts me at about 12-15 MPG. Again i never thought anything of it, the car has 0 issues and drives like a dream.
My buddy in the same car gets over 300 miles to his tank.. that averages him around 19mpg. THATS A HUGE DIFFERENCE. Over 100 miles difference to a tank. anybody else averaging some odd numbers ?
I have the 8spd transmission and I drive in normal mode 90% of the time. I do use Sport + just for the tighter steering on the highways, never really high revving.

I've been getting 330 range here ever since I've moved out of LA. Averaging about 20-24 MPG, mixed highway with some traffic and this car sees triple digit speeds almost daily.
But even in LA, I wasn't getting 12 MPG. That's insane!

When I had my 4GS, I was averaging about 20-26MPG, with a mix of city and freeway driving. If you're doing a lot of city driving, the mileage drops considerably. I get about 20-29MPG in my 4RX SUV with the same driving conditions. Equates to 320-330 mile range. 12-15 MPG seems very low unless all you do is city driving or floor it everywhere you go. Which mode you're in barely makes any difference, it's all about how much weight you put on that pedal.

There's so many factors to MPG that's it's hard to pinpoint. Anything from engine air filter condition, temp, wind, quality of gas, your driving style, etc. City driving will impact a car's mpg significantly, especially a V6.
Check your engine air filter and tire pressure, but it's most likely coming down to the routes you frequent and your driving style.

Didn't President Biden say something about increasing the ethanol from 10 to 15%? Maybe its started in your area?? Try and see if there are any stations that sell no-ethanol near you.

I feel like I’ve gotten below avg MPG in every car I’ve owned so I’ve just learned not to care
In my GS I’ve seen I get about 240 with hard driving (S+ and constant flooring), about 280 with normal driving, and like 300+ with conservative/eco driving. These numbers btw are at the time when the tank light comes on.

Stop and go is what kills the MPG. Even if u accelerate slowly, it still drinks more gas compared to rolling at a set speed.
This car does not like city driving and traffic. Neither does the owner. This car is a highway beast!

This is what's driving me insane.. If I were to give an estimate id day I drive about 60% highway and 40% city so how and why am I 100 miles less to the tank.
Only ever pump 93, Bolt on intake kit, less than 6 months on new plugs... I can't wrap my head around this.

I rode around in my buddies Gs and he was about 60 miles in from a full tank and had 257 range on the dash... That's insane from my experience.
Fresh out the Gas station my car shows me 220-228 range on the dash with a Full tank !!!

I know this sounds silly, but what is the low range of the city MPG on the Window Sticker? Here me out, even though the cars are mass produced with the same parts and same manufacturing line, for whatever reason, depending on the car, there will be some that are at the low end of the bell curve, and even some that are at the high end. That is why there is that range of MPG on the Window Sticker. The number you see posted in the bigger print is the expected MPG, but the little small print should have shown the range. Sorry, if your car has always been on the low end, there is nothing mechanically wrong with it (most likely), and is just the runt of the litter (jk).

Where in FL do you live? I live in Palm Beach and get 19-21 religiously, and our rush hour is minor. If you're down south dealing with Broward and Dade traffic everyday, I would say your MPG is spot on, crawling on the 595 or 95 everyday will suck your MPGs right down the drain.

Something is definitely wrong though. If you’re doing 60/40 highway & city I’d say you should be getting 280+ unless you have a heavy foot and drive in S+ regularly
