Door "Boing" noise after parking lot sideswipe
Hi all
Had the misfortune of someone sideswiping my drivers side door, and not leaving a note.
Fortunately, the main dent popped out after closing a couple of times, the paint didn't crack, and I was buff out the stratches to an acceptable level for a 10 year old car.
What's left though is this odd vibration noise when the door is closed, louder the firmer I close the door. I've video'd it, closest description is like a big rubber band going "booooiiiinnnnngggg".
The door closes fine. No air leaks, no water leaks, no rattles, no window or control issues; once closed there is no sign anything is wrong.
All I can think of is something in the accustics is off due to the small dents left on the outside or the larger dent is somehow still flexing, and/or some noise deadening piece or brace fell off during the impact.
Before I take this thing apart, thought I'd ask you all if you have any ideas?
thanks!

I think you'll know for sure once you remove the door panel and check. Pure speculation but it sounds as if a piece of a metal wire guide/hook is slightly bent out of shape causing the abnormal sound.
Here's a link to how the panel looks when removed: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...l#post10407419

something probably got loose due to the accident so when it hits something that sound is vibrated within the door...

Mine makes an odd noise also. I know the previous owner had the door panels off for some reason and they were not reinstalled correctly. When I put them back on I noticed the main screw holding the door panel near the armrest seemed to be different and it was not completely tight. I reinstalled the door panel and tightened it up, but it keeps coming loose. I get some weird noise when I close the door unless I put pressure in that area when closing it.

i can't distinguish sh it from that vid. possibly the door check making that noise. i never took one of these newer lexus door panels off before but if it has a inner door plate like many cars on the road nowadays there could be damage on the inner door plate bent/warp and as you slam the car door shut the door itself put torsion or flex onto the inner door plate.
