I went from a 2015 to a 2019 to a 2020. All were AWD F Sports.
I loved my 2015 but frankly, would never go back. The 2019 and 2020 feel much more refined to me and the feature content is massively better. In going from a bare bones pre-refresh model to a refreshed version that is well optioned, I'd make the switch in a heartbeat if the deal worked out favorably.

Brake squeal is 100% hit or miss. I think the solution really though is to stick with the OEM Lexus dark grease. It’s definitely a problem you have to put up with owning an F Sport. I love the way this car stops though.
Anyways, I don’t want to turn this into another brake thread

I have driven just about every year GS350 and a 450h for comparison. Every year. The 16-20 is more LS like. Its more Lexus ride and response. Milder but still a very nice car. The RWD to AWD are diffrent. The AWD nor the RWD 16-20 have the responsivness that the 13-15 RWD drive have. So it depends on what you like if you have actually felt all the diffrent years. One can say I have no problem with my X- year, AWD or RWD.
On the Brake squeal.... yes it's only on the the RWD drive F Sport but, it's well posted here that's it's likely the most threads and post created in the history of the 4th Gen GS forum. Back to the diffrence in the ride, the 16-20 vs 13-15 is like the diffrence of a Toyota Avalon ride to a BMW 5 series. You can find many threads that validate the diffrence in the actual Factory changes in Spring rates and Struts being well more firmer with the 13-15 with very little other change in the suspension ride quality from 13-20. So yes the 16-20 is the cushy more like LS ride where the 13-15 is more IS ride handeling.

Ha, don't worry, still on the lookout! Dealership is working on finding a 2018-2020 model. Stumbled on this one, pricey, but beautiful:

@ItzFilyO and You both said this and I feel like that’s missing the point of the question being asked in this thread. Of course nobody would ever downgrade.
But rather if what you have now is sufficient for your wants/needs or you can’t justify spending more to upgrade, then it’s not worth the upgrade. I think that’s the question being asked here by OP.

Friends,
I purchased my 2015 GS-350 (AWD) this past January—I love the car very much. But, I stumbled on a like-new, low milage 2020 GS-350 Premium (AWD) and I'm thinking about trading in my 2015 for the 2020. The trade-in appraisal was $28K for the 2015. I did some searching and review watching and my sense is that the 2020 has a more refined ride quality, is a little quieter inside the cabin, and the throttle is more responsive. The 2020 also has a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats, Mark Levinson, rear sun screen, frameless rear-view mirror, etc. I do enjoy driving the 2015 and the car brings me great joy, so if the deal falls through I'd be content with keeping the 2015. All that said, I wouldn't mind those 2020 upgrades! I plan to keep the GS for as long as possible, so the newer model year is desirable.
I'm wondering if anyone has made a similar transition? From the 2013-2015 GS to the 2019 or 2020 GS? Still happy with the decision?

Who that gets a 5 year newer same model Lexus with less miles is not happy with it? From the on going post he is detirmined to get it, so I don't see why the question was even asked.

I wasn’t happy when I moved from my 15 to my 19. Wrong color. 😁
