Just pay your village mechanic. No point asking here as it’s not like you will be doing engine tear down yourself.

It's not a problem on these engines. Unless your mechanic has diagnosed it as a problem due to symptoms you've reported, do not concern yourself.

If you need to get the valves cleaned, you'll just have to book in and wait until your village mechanic has time. What else are you going to do but wait? If you have to ask, it's well over your head and not something you will DIY.

Let's start with some kindergarden walkthrough questions.

What causes carbon buildup on the intake valves?

Its well known documented that direct injections suffer from carbon build up unforunately.

Yeah nah, carbon build-up may be a problem for direct injection engines, but the GS engine is direct AND port injected, which does not commonly suffer from this issue at all

i am not mechanic like you so i have no clue , simply because of the injection technology i think.
Again well documented over internet.... all direct injection systems cars build over time carbon deposit.

i am pressure sure that over time car builds carbon deposits some people with lexus LS - which is also direct and port injection have also same issue carbon deposit and they need to clean car not sure how often.

The reason for this is also VERY well documented over the internet.

You're breaking the laziness meter.
