2016 GS 350 Fsport after 2.5 years I still love it!
Hi folks,
My first post.
I bought my Lexus about 2.5 years ago used with 44K miles. I put on a Takeda Cold Air Intake myself, and had the muffler shop install some Magnaflow Exhaust. I tried a couple of different Front License Plate holders, finally settled on a flush-mounted one, and got some personalized plates. DarthRB for Darth Roundboy. :P front end looks like Vader's mask a bit...
All I've really had to do are Regular Oil changes, Got 4 new tires the first time I took it to the dealership for an oil change because the front driver's side tire was showing unusual wear. Turns out it was a blown front Shock that my other mechanic figured out. I noticed that after a week or so of leaving the dealer I could hear the shock bottoming out on every bump. No more taking it to the dealer, my mechanic is better and less expensive. So that was replaced with an OEM Shock.
As the 60K was coming up the car was reminding me of the need for an oil change. I knew I still had plenty of time. I read the recommended stuff. Says to change Cabin Filter; Check did that myself, Change Air filter ; Check, it's the Takenda AFE and cleaned it myself. Says spark plugs and then a bunch of checks on other stuff. I paid my mechanic to do that. Well the day before I took it in was really cold here like 38 F yes that's cold here in California and I go to start it early as I'm about to drive to work and the Check Engine light and the Traction light come on saying Traction Control has been turned off and I'm like WTF.
When I took it in for the oil change he said the code was just the gas cap needed tightening. He cleared the code and bam it was nothing. I heard you can get the reader and do this yourself but I prefer letting my mechanic do it. I'm willing to pay for the convenience.
Anywhoo that's my story. So if you get the check engine light don't panic. Could be something as simple as tightening the gas cap.
Thinking about doing some coil overs, maybe a front spoiler lip thing, I ran into something on the road a while back and it punched a hole in the front plastic, I made the repair myself and ordered the right paint and clearcoat in the cans but after a while, it's obviously a ****ty job. So maybe having that professionally done and repainted or just getting a whole replacement front spoiler/valance bumper. I like the Fsport rims but have curbed them a few times, hit some potholes and they are scuffed and dented. Thinking about wheels so any suggestions I'm all ears.
Some of the best ownership advice you'll hear - buy a cheap bluetooth OBD2 dongle. You can use it to scan and clear codes. Given our car has 40 odd controllers, it's worth having!
My 2013 F Sport is only at 78k miles (short work commute) it still purrs quietly and I keep it in original condition (no mods, except larger tires). Bought her used with 16k miles back in 2015. So reliable, I nickname her my "Camry". None of the headaches I used to have when I owned European.
Niceee!!! They now have new LED vland style headlights so you can update the look to keep the car even longer!
2013 gs350 F sport with 160k, purchased at 79k in dec 2016 only needed a battery, rotors/brakes and couple of tires! My BSM thinks it’s closer to an object than it really is so that is kinda scary at night haha
also saw this for sale locally and there’s a YouTube video of another 2013 with 250k but that video is about 2-3 years old soooo yeah I’m guessing since the 2013 has the 6 speed transmission!
Bought my ‘15 GS350 F Sport 13 months ago with 42,000+ miles and it still hasn’t reached 50,000. Average mileage has been in the low to mid 20s. It was originally leased from Lexus of Beverly Hills. Love it other than the intermittent wipers that stopped working a couple weeks ago and the heater has recently stopped blowing warm air unless it’s turned up in the 80s. ML stereo is nice as is the persimmon colored interior.
