Heater blowing cold a different way

I usually set it @ 77 degrees to warm up the car when it’s cold outside. Today it started fine as usual and then blew cold air until I turned the temp up into the 80s. My heat gauge reads as normal and the outside temps were in the 40s-50s. WTH?
Any ideas?

If it makes you feel any better, mine blows cold air until I set it to 27*C or higher. I know the heater core works because on 32*C to H it's blowing hot air. Assumed it was just the way the Japanese did things.
I've thought about doing an actuator relearn via techstream (I think it can be done without TS too) but not sure if there are risks in doing so?? In my previous car, if one ran an actuator initialisation and it detected a fault, it set the system permanently to full cooling, blowing air towards the windscreen only.....until it detected no faults with blend door actuators. (Nice one Holden)
