I have never been a fan of these high priced recommended mile services at Lexus dealership - I get my car serviced at the dealership because they are professional and I trust them - typically just oil changes - I just hit 120K mi - Suggested services are : (1) oil change (2) check brakes (3) coolant flush (4) brake fluid flush (5) differential fluid flush (6) new spark plugs - not paying $1,680 - thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

I'm about the same as you on who I let service my car when I don't fell like doing it myself. See if you can get a relation with a Toyota dealer near you and ask for the car to go to a long time Master tech. I have also found that for some strange reason if you give them your own parts, the same service labor cost is less. I don't know why and don't question it.

I love the “check brakes” item as part of the cost. Just think what it would cost if you need something done on the brakes. I am all for a business trying to make money for services provided, yes the capitalist way, just not going to make the money off of me for something I can do myself. Just waiting for an EV to be spec’d to get over 400 miles range (for a reasonable price), then there will be no need to do these services. It’s coming, but until then, I will enjoy driving my 2013 GSH. Wow, 10 years old now. I still think the interior layout is soothing and well thought out. No “IPAD” looking thing in the middle of the dash. Buttons where there should be buttons, etc.

I would ask how much for each service individually and then decide which ones you'd like to get done with them. Prices from my experience with Lexus dealerships (NY/NJ pricing):
Personally, at 120k, i'd only opt for them to do the rear differential, coolant flush and an oil change. Everything else, i'd get done with my trusted local guys.
- An oil/filter change at the dealership is $125 (specials usually run for $69.99 for synthetic).
- My preferred dealer wanted around $500 to $600 to do the spark plugs at 60k (this included parts and labor). Seems to be a big range in pricing for plugs depending on your locale. I didn't do the plugs. Currently sitting at 68k miles.
- Differential Fluid: There is both the front and rear. I've gotten quotes of $150 for each. I did the rear differential with my local mechanic at 48k miles (fluid was dirty but didn't feel much of a difference in terms of everyday driving). Have never done the front differential.
- Coolant Flush: This should be $200 or less. You might be able to find dealers offerings specials for $150-$175.

If my dealer charged $125 for OC, I would go every time to them. Mine charges double and go to my local guy that does it for $100. I don't mess with dirty fluids anymore. When Lexus Dealer mails me the $89 coupon which include tire rotation I go.
From just doing my spark plugs, I can say that $500 is a fair price because there is a fair number of components that need to be taken off and moved to be able to get to the plugs which includes $80 for the parts. Not to mention putting everything back with proper torque. Again, mine charges double, but I like doing that type of work.
