Take it from a person that works in IT for a dealership group that deals with these vendors such as autotrader, vauto, whatever is out there and sales consultants. They don't know jack about what they have in front of them. The only person who would know are people in these forums. I was looking at a S60R back in the day and asked if they can keep an eye out for one. Sales consultant told me we have plenty of R-Design S60 which is the same as the first gen S60R, to which I reply, "They are not." Needless to say, I had to show him what an S60R is.

Same with the 2nd gen GS. I was arguing with a sales consultant because he said the 2nd Gen Avalon and 2nd gen GS are the same cars with the same V6. Boy, I was into that argument for a good 30 mins telling that idiot the GS has a 2JZ I6 whereas the Avalon has a 1mz-fe V6. Needless to say, he lost a sale.

That's what I felt too when I start asking questions about the vehicle. He didn't know much about at all besides showing what's coming up on Google search.

Agreed - this was especially the case during the height of the pandemic when logistic and supply chain problems caused manufacturers to build with options depending on what was available - this is why its super important to test drive the car and check/confirm it has all the options you want and that they work!

@ljCharlie did you end up putting an offer on that Riviera Red 2015 GS? Also, keep in mind that even the Lexus dealer's sales people tend to know very little - i've yet to a meet a salesperson that knew more about the vehicle they are selling compared to a well-researched customer. Sometimes, these things tend to sell themselves and salespeople are just there to pull commission and do paperwork, rather than have the salesmanship to actually sell the product.
