Default What is the "Crafted Line"?

I'm looking at the 2015 Lexus GS 350 Crafted Line AWD. What is difference between the "crafted line" versus those of none-crafted-line?

The crafted line was a special edition package on top of the F-Sport trim for 2015. Basically, Lexus gave the GS a two tone red/black interior and the upgraded wood trim on the inside.

Also, the exterior was only available in white with black door handles, black side mirrors, black 19" F-sport wheels and a black "obsidian" grille. Below is a chart (and link to article) with additional details.

I saw this vehicle on sale and the ads said it's a the "crafted line" AWD 2015. However, I have not seen one up close so I'm not sure if this is the crafted line version. Regardless, does the 2015 have adaptive cruise control?

Back when I was shopping for my GS I saw a few of those advertised online and thought "What punk is wrapping just the door handles and grill crossbar like that? Wow, everything just has to be wrapped or plasti-dipped these days."

Woops.

Blacked crossbar on the grill with a splitter looks nice though lowered just a smidge... tbh.

The ad is incorrect - i know a lot of ads for the GS show a crafted line as a trim and dealers tend to just simply mark their inventory with that default trim level (via cars.com or autotrader). If it doesn't have the aforementioned items (19" wheels, white exterior, two tone red interior, etc.) its not a crafted line trim.

That one you posted is a premium package GS with 18" wheels (those 18" wheels are the easiest way to know its a premium pkg GS). Premium pkg, F-sport, Crafted Line and Luxury pkg equipped GS's have different OEM wheels which is a great way to tell the pkg it has equipped.

In 2015, adaptive cruise was an individual option. You would need to check the options list/details to see if the car was equipped with it.

Okay, so this particular vehicle is just the premium package GS and NOT the crafted line then. Thank you. I'll have to confirm with the seller and see if I can negotiate the price.

This is Crafted Line GS350. AJ is correct. I have the same Linear Espresso Wood Trim in my 13 Lux.

Excellent thread to review: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...3-14-15-a.html

All of these updates carried over from 2014 and made it to the 2015:
  • Flush mounted sensors for available Intuitive Park Assist (available '14+)
  • Full color display added to optional Heads-Up Display (available '14+)
  • Available Blind Spot Monitor adds Rear Cross Traffic Alert and power-folding mirrors
  • Luxury Package changes: LED foglamps, Superchrome finish for 18-inch wheels; rear armrest control panel display adds option to view radio station and song title info.
  • Optional power trunk opener (available '14+)
  • Lexus Night View system discontinued (only available in '13)
  • 2015's included a New Multimedia system (different from '13/'14)
  • 2015's upgraded Lexus Enform App Suite upgraded in 2015
  • 18-inch wheels standard in 2015 for non F Sport trims (optional 18s for '13/'14)

If you're looking at an F-sport, the 2015 F-Sport trim has been regarded on this forum from many owners as the most aggressively tuned suspension-wise and maybe the best handling 4GS model year in stock form.

If I have the VIN, is there a site to check what trim and original color it is? This vehicle is red and I don't know if Lexus ever made a 2015 red GS 350. I visited the dealership and test drive the vehicle. For some reason I thought the 2015 has heated steering wheel but I couldn't find the button in this vehicle. I also found this clear peeling thing. I'm not exactly sure what it is that's why I wanted to check the vehicle's original color.

Here's a couple more pics of the vehicle. This is not the F Sport trim. The dealer said they enter the VIN and the application they used for advertising on their site shows it as "crafted line". So I guess they don't know either.

@AJLex19 is correct. Coming from a non-F-Sport 2015 without AVS, it really does handle aggressive suspension wise and you will not be disappointed with your decision.

Yes the 4GS did come in red, which was called Riviera Red

That looks like a base model. They did make red GS 350's but not a lot of them. The heated steering wheel button would be on the dash to the left of the steering wheel with the 2 other buttons. You don't have it. A lot of the '15's got screwed on the heated steering wheel even if they had the cold weather package. See: https://www.google.com/search?client...l+class+action

Interesting, I wonder what came out of the lawsuit. In a couple of the articles I read from the Google, it didn't specify the outcome.

I never found an answer to that myself. My guess is nothing. Probably some fine print about they have the right to add or remove certain options bla-bla-bla. I found the information when searching last year because my 2015 with premium and cold weather packages doesn't have the heated steering wheel as well. I noticed that they don't even list the heated steering wheel as a part of the cold weather package any more. Go figure? It can be added, but even with wholesale prices it's going to cost over a thousand dollars for parts, (Wheel, clock spring, heater control assembly and switch) if you do it yourself and more if you have to pay for labor. I have all the parts bookmarked, but I just can't justify the cost considering I'd only use it for a few minutes a few times a year. If you have a remote starter, would it even be needed at all when you can warm up your car before entering?

What I did find is that certain options can be added or left out based on what is available at the manufacturing site. So, if the cars are being made at a certain location and they're out of parts for the heated steering wheel, they'll just continue making the cars without it and possibly add something else in place of it if they have extras of another option. If they have an excess of parts for say the rear window shade and not many orders for cars with it, they may add it to use up the parts.
