Lexus GS F-Sport AWD or RWD
Hey guys,
Does anyone know the difference in the F sport package for AWD and RWD. There is about 4k price difference between the AWD and RWD F sport package in Canada and 3k price difference in USA..
I am going to be buying this car pretty soon as my lease for IS F ends in a couple months. I asked salespersons, but no one really knew a definite answer. Since you guys are the experts, thought I would ask here.

The major difference between the RWD and AWD F-Sport is the cost of the AWD, the RWD models get the variable gear ratio steering and the breaks are slightly different. RWD models have summer performance tires and AWD models has all season tires. In my area of the country, I could not even test drive a RWD model prior to buying mine.

thanks for the info. So there is no difference in terms of performance between AWD and RWD in F-sport package right? What about the wheel spacing in RWD and AWD f-sport? Is the car lowered in RWD F sport than AWD f-sport?

RWD is faster than the AWD,,, RWD top speed 144 MPH,,, AWD 131MPH. the RWD is lighter than the AWD. i'm not familiar with the driving dynamics because i haven't driven a RWD F Sport. there were none at my dealership. however i would not attempt to buy a RWD in N.Y. unless i bought both RWD/AWD,,, one for summer and spring and the other for fall and winter.

Pole Position
RWD F-Sport :
VGRS (variable gear ratio steering) : this allows the driver to select the steering assist and feel via the Eco, Normal, Sport and Sport + modes. Not available on the AWD.
larger 2 piece front rotors compared to the AWD F-Sport
staggered 19 inch wheels. The rear wheels are broader then the front for increased road holding and improved handling.
Option for rear wheel steering. AWD does not have this option.

chowner: The price difference is what you stated without the rear steering option. With that option, the price of AWD and RWD F-Sport are almost the same in Canada, or at least in Ontario.
I went with AWD because I`m in Toronto (a bit of piece of mind) and because while it`s a Lexus, I still feel that rear steering might be more expensive to maintain over time.
The Turanza tires on the AWD stink though.
