Default Waiting for an eight-speed 2014 GS 350 AWD?

According to this Car and Driver article IS AWD models will continue to be equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission. I'd assume the same will be true for the GS.

The 6 vs 8 speed isn't a big issue to me.
More HP/TQ and standard features like power folding mirrors and to a lesser extent power trunk are more important to me.

Same here... I was reading Motor Trend the other day and the latest Vanquish is still equipped with 6 Speed. Not sure why some press on this feature... If we're talking about long trip comfort, the GS is just fine IMO... If we're talking about gas saving....

The 8 speed would probably be on the F sport model...
The 8 speed should increase 0-60 by about 2/10's which would be about the same as a 20hp increase plus you get an increase in mpg's.
6 speeds will eventually all sucumb to more cogs in time due to CAFE>

The car needs around 50 more HP and more lbs of torque..
Get to that 0-60 in 5.2,5.1.

True on the CAFE.

I've driven the Audi A6 before I finalized my decision. But with an automatic, the more speeds you have, the more gear hunting going on. All that shifting kind of turned me off to the A6.

Sure, you'd get better gas mileage with more gears though, but i'd rather shift manually at that point.

To each his own.

Does anybody else think that Lexus was more bold with the IS than with the GS. That front grill looks familar to the prototype design Lexus had for the GS.

^Love that look on the GS, if we buy the 13 and the 14 looks similar to this with the 8 spd and lsa gauge I'll be pissed. Now that I've read about the knocking noise that they cant figure out (yet) we may just wait.

I think the GS to some extent was a guinea pig. Lexus used it to test waters, to see how people will react to these changes..ect They went more aggressive once the dust has settled

I think Audi was the trendsetter with the extra aggressive one piece grille and Lexus is trying their own rendition.

I'd be glad...just means the parts will be available for a swap.

the lexus GS looks are not going to change, even at it's current state, a lot of remarks are that it looks TOO agressive.

you have to remember the IS market and GS market are completely different, makes more sense to go agressive with the younger IS market and conservative(comparison speaking) with the older GS market.

The front end of the GS will most likely get even more agressive after the mid cycle refresh. I do agree that the IS and GS are meant for different demographic groups. However, the same can be said about the LS, but look how agressive it looks compared to GS.

I have a feeling that the GS will get a similar grille and bumper as IS and LS.
