Just picked up a GS-F (ex-F10 M5 owner)

I got both sets of mats. The car is very quiet as to road noise. The engine is pretty hushed under 4k but gets real loud when you open it up. Sounds absolutely epic. One of the best sounding V8s outside of the "Italian F cars". The Mark Levinson system is really good at mid to high volume. At low volumes (under 20) its not as rich as the German B&O systems we have in our other cars. At hogh volumes, its a fuller sound and i like it better. So from the hushed road noise, the sweet sounding Yamaha V8 to the Mark Levinson system i would pretty much call it pornography for your ears!

When i got mine in September, 36 mo 12k residual was 68% and money factor was really good too. I was happy! Plus i paid 500 below invoice and buy rate. The M5 residual was not good nor was the rate in december 2012. I paid invoice for that one but had to put a ton down to get a good payment.
still quite a few cars we are considering but now you make the m3 very attractive haha...

Seriously man, you're reaching now. It's ok to love the car, but come on.

I had been eyeing the M4 myself. Even going to a dealer and test-driving it with a DCT. I also drove the GS 350 and the GS F. Both of which I liked. The OP's review and several other anecdotal statements in this thread have swayed me to go with the GS 350 or the GS F. Hopefully the second choice if I can haggle the price down a little. I must say the rioja interior is much more beautiful in real life and in pictures such as those on page one, than it is on the online configuration section of build a Lexus.
Do you guys think it would be wise to wait for the 2017 GS F if my heart is set on that? I've read on here that the slow shifting in certain cases will be addressed or a more powerful engine should come along, or should I not get my hopes up and get something sooner rather than later?
Thanks

Oh, yes, that's right. My bad. I didn't have issues with the transmission being slow in down or up shifts myself or I think it's fast but it's not? Right now I'm trying to decide whether to go for the GSF in its first year or go with the GS350 and then upgrade in a year or two. My daily driving isn't too much so the GS350 is way more sensible, but the F is something special. I could go with the GS350 F-Sport. My experiences with Lexus have been the LS400, SC400 and the 1st gen IS300. Time to get back into the Lexus family. I could also wait a few years and pickup something used while I wait for prices to drop on the GS F new. The dealership I test drove at moves a ton of IS and ES.

i think the gsf will get 10 speed very soon, maybe next year, again because lc500 is getting 10 speed.
i am never a huge fan of the tranny in the f cars, always think it can be more aggressive. but if you want fast, gsf in s+ mode the tq converter is locked and it shifts much sharper and harder. not saying it's fast like dct but definitely more engaging

The transmission is not bad in any way. It just could be a lot better with today's tech is all. After you get used to the 8spd BMW tuned auto, nothing seems to be tuned right! The GSF is shifting better as it breaks in for sure. Its very smooth. In sport or sport+ it downshifts quick enough most of the time now. When its slow to get to the right gear is cruising in 8th gear when you mash the pedal. It needs to go from 8th to 2nd and that can take some time. In sport and sport+ its shifting from 6 or 7 and more aggressively.

Thanks for the info, guys. Ray, if you don't mind me asking, how's the eco mode on the GSF? Do you find it useful to use on cold mornings? How's the mpg in general with normal driving? I think worst case if the price doesn't get knocked down despite them not selling as well as they thought it would, I may end up financing a pre-owned. One Lexus dealer has a 2015 GS350 with 22K miles going for $35,000ish, which seems like a great deal.

Logitech, as a '13 GS F Sport owner, I'd say get that first and wait for the dust to settle on the GSF pricing scheme. The RCF has taken a bath on pricing already because there is so much competition at that price point.
The GSF itself seems magnificent but the financing options right now are just ridiculous. For what some GSF's are leasing for, you could get a 100k+ car with the same monthly payment. Closer to the end of the year, we should see TFS getting aggressive and bring money factors, etc. back down to earth.

I did check the leasing price. $900 for 36 mo. with $5k down. Looking for Lexus certified preowned from the dealer, should I bother looking for a GS 350 F-Sport? They've got a 2013 in Riviera Red on Flaxen with 20.9k miles and selling for a hair under $35,000. I don't quite understand what you mean by the RCF taking a bath on pricing. Didn't it debut with prices in the mid 60s? Cheapest one I've seen online was 52,000. But that was several states away. A nearby dealer has a 2015 RCF in black on stratus gray for just over 56,000 with about 9.4k miles.
To be honest RCFs will hold their value very strong in the long run just like ISFs...Initially, most luxury GTs lose value very fast...For comparison, M3s/M4s are no better.

People don't realize that Base RCF started around $65k and top Performance model with carbon fiber roof/spoiler tops out at roughly $80k and the pricing we are seeing on the used RCFs in Low to mid 50s are for Non Performance RCFs.

I can tell you one thing about the RC's seat coolers: they don't blow half as hard as the GS's do. Not sure if it's a different seat that has to be fitted with smaller fans or what, but I had an RC loaner last summer and the seat coolers felt like cat breath. Was glad to get back in my GS for the real "package cooler" effect.\
Also to clarify my "taking a bath" statement about the RCF, they were dead on the lot at many dealers because they were fully loaded or close to it with 80k+ stickers. I've seen dealers knock 12k or more off that price to get them off the lot. So, that msrp really took a bath, and anyone that was a day one buyer that paid anywhere near sticker lost their *** in the deal. I guess that's just how it works with unproven new models particularly in the performance arena. What the manufacturer wants and what the public thinks it's worth don't always match up. I swear at the RCF debut I went to at my dealer, the Molten Pearl RCF they were showing was stickered at 68k or something and I thought, that's reasonable. Must not have had the PP on it.
