I've noticed ALOT of brake dust.....
I do recall someone briefly talking about it on this forum. But cannot find the thread?
Is there an updated low dust brake pad option offered?

I bought some Armor Outlast Brake Dust Repllent today. Walmart $8.99
Rave reviews on this stuff. So i figured to give it a try........
question is how much to apply? lol

 

anyone have suggestions on how to keep the wheels and the calipers clean? It's been a ***** and it looks lame to have a squeaky clean car but dirty wheels/calipers. my first time owning a white car and I am having to wash it about once a week so having a way to keep the wheels really clean easily would be awesome.

 

I thought the ISF dust was bad. I know the pay-to-play and the car being a bit heavier, but damn...

 

Aren't there "less dusty but less aggressive" pads available? Akebono or someone has to make them by now. I know this tends to go with the territory. Even my 13 F Sport will blacken the front wheels on a weekly basis under normal driving thanks to the big aggressive pads.

I see faster cars on the highway all the time and when they have silver or alloy wheels, you can see the same thing on them too. M3's, M4's, Mercedes AMG, they almost always have dark wheels thanks to these kinds of pads.

I'd recommend getting a long handled brush that's friendly to the finish, a bucket, and just washing them once a week. That's the only way to win besides switching pads.

 

coat your wheels with ceramic coating like C quartz, it makes washing your wheels easier. I usually just spray it with a good wheel cleaner, including the calipers then let sit for 1-2 minutes then spray with hose then its clean again.

 

Give the Armor All Outlast Brake Dust Repellent a try.....

Honestly, I am disappointed at the dust/feel ratio. The HC+800 Project Mu pads I have on my F are dusty, noisy, and generally not intended for those who don't value performance above all else. My impression of the dust on the GSF is they are about the same, but don't have anywhere near the same feel. Every time I get in the GSF, I have to remind myself to push harder on the brakes for the same stop. Not that there is a problem, it's just so different and for the amount of dust I am seeing, I really expected more.

 

^^^^Though I only have the PM +800 pads in the rear of my ISF, I have Ferodo DS2500 pads on the front. Yes the PMs do dust, but, for me, there is no noise.

On my Bimmer and Honda Pilot, I have replaced the factory pads with Akebono ceramics. No more brake dust with no loss in stopping power. Am looking for high performance ceramic pad for the Lexus as it appears that Akebono has not made them yet. Another thought, will the RC F replacement aftermarket pads fit the GS F? I was shocked when I found that the stock front brake pad from Lexus was an outrageous $480.00!!! Could get them discounted for $360.00 on the internet. Can get TRW pads for $47.00 for the vehicle!
