With the standard setup, the GSF makes the best noises above 3K RPM. However, in auto shift mode, the car gets into law-breaking speed quickly at that RPM. So I have been using the manual shift mode to shift gears at >3K RPM (without smashing the gas pedal), and the result is always a beautiful melody of 'music' to my ears, without much risk of getting speeding tickets ![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
one questions, am I going to damage my engine and transmission if I enjoyed this too much?

There is no problem enjoying downshifts time to time, just make sure you warm up the engine before driving in higher RPMs. The only thing you will damage is your MPG, since you'll need more gas for the higher RPM, which is not efficient, this is the reason why we got 8 speed gearboxes.
However if your GSF is new and you are in break-in period, its not advised to drive constantly in low gears.

Thanks for the feedback!
My car has 10k miles on it now. Just to be clear, I don't drive in the low gears at constant speed/RPM. I simply enjoyed the sound of the climbing revv and the smoothness of the shifting actions. It simply brings out the opposite experience of a typical Lexus product at normal pace.

I recently saw a video about making the intake sound louder below 4K Rpm.

I also temporarly disconnected the mentioned hose, now it has an amazing sound and you dont need to rev so high.
I asked my Lexus guys if this makes any damage but they told me better not to drive with those flap constantly opened, I should buy an aftermarket intake instead.
I am wondering what’s the flap’s purpose in addition to reducing the engine’s sound at the lower RPMs.
