(another) thread with 6 beeps on unlock
Hey all,
So last week monday I had front speakers replaced along with the 3 in the dash and also had sound deadening installed on the doors (all 4). Yesterday the car started beeping 6-8 times on unlock (not normal), and once on lock (normal).
I looked at several threads here on the IS and ES subs and there are various theories. Some have disconnected the battery and went away, others followed a procedure to lock/unlock/relock, others have said the door actuators went bad, and, others have said there is something getting in the way.
When I unlock, the car beeps 6-8 times and I can definitely hear *click click click* on the rear driver side, not sure if its the door or the gas door, but its there and its loud.
I have tried all the fixes mentioned (battery disconnect, etc) and nothing. I am worried the dealer will throw a fit and tell me to pound sand since I replaced speakers and did sound deadening (https://soundskinsglobal.com/pages/soundskins-pro) and they'll say that cause the door actuators to go bad.. or some other excuse.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
thanks everyone

I would talk to the speaker shop. If it started after they did work they should be the ones fixing it or at least giving you clues as to what to check
btw what speakers did you buy and how do you like them? I just threw in a JL sub last week

So update, car is at the dealer, they say its a bad door lock motor/actuator. However they're starting to blame it on the speaker replacement/sound deadening. Other than getting into a discussion with the service manager, what other recourse do I have?

I did notice that I need to crank the volume up to get the same level of output compared to OE. I guess the OEs are 2 ohm whereas the JL are 4 ohm. In any case, I am loving how it sounds.

I put JL CS3-650s in the front (tweeters in OE location) and JL CS2-400x for the center channel. Its amazing how bad are the OE ML speakers once you swap them out. I have crisp, snappy highs without the muddled sounds/distortion once the volume gets high.

I hope you get your problem taken care of. I would insist the dealer have the door panel off and physically show you how the car audio upgrade messed up the door. If they can show you that, then you can have some recourse with the audio shop
