Just curious, for those of you who had to replace your battery, how long did you own the car for and what was your mileage if you recall?

I’m a little over 2 years and 35K mikes and battery is low. I’ve been driving it a lot less recently (under 50 miles per week) and do have a dash cam but it should shut off after an hour on low power mode. Going to charge the battery and check it’s voltage and leave camera unplugged and see if it discharges again at which point I’ll probably have to replace.

This is interesting. I've seen some threads in the 4GS forums about batteries going belly up fairly early (like 2-3 years). There's also an interesting thread about possible parasititic drain from an ecu chip (with tsb issued by lexus). I'll try to search this for you.

Ironically, my wife's 2015 GS - F sport (which I bought CPO a couple of months ago) had major battery drain issues. We went on vacation for 5 days and the car was dead. I had to jump start the thing and initially figured that we had just bought it and didn't drive it very much. I knew something was wrong when I was goofing around with the carista obd2 reader and I kept getting messages about low voltages.

Long story short, I brought the car to my local lexus dealer and had them load test the battery. It failed miserably (her battery was rated for approximately 580 cold cranking amps and it only produced 11!). I thought this was outrageous for a barely 4 year old battery!
Fortunately, lexus replaced it under the CPO warranty, although I believe that the battery manufacturer guarantees it for 84 months.

In comparison, my infiniti FX's battery lasted 13 years before I had to replace it.

Keep in mind that measuring battery voltage may not give you the entire story. A dying battery may be able to produce the correct voltage, but won't crank with enough juice to even start your car. Get it load tested at your local mechanic (some battery places, sears, Firestone, pep Boys can also do this for free).

I bought my 2016 in March and the dealer installed a new battery during the CPO process. So 3 year life on these things...?

My battery was dead last year around the spring time. The car had around 10000 km.

So I have an update. I disconnected the battery from the car and measured the voltage on it... and it was 5.5 volts. I didn't think if something drained the battery completely that the voltage would drop that low. Perhaps a cell has died?

I hooked up a battery charger and it gave an error after about 5-10 minutes. I disconnected it and measured the battery voltage again and it had risen by a few volts. I had to do this a couple of times until the voltage hit about 9 and then the charger remained on without stopping. It's been charging overnight and now is looking more normal at a little over 12 volts and still charging.

Tomorrow I'll be taking it to get load tested.

This seems very similar to the GS battery issue, which I thought was resolved. I had this issue on my 13 GS, this was after I believe 1 year and 15K,after two days of the car sitting I would come back to a dead battery.

Had this issue bk in 2014. Resolved it on my ‘14 GS by physically moving my key further away from vehicle when parked. My key hung on a wall valet in my kitchen w/c was <10” from car. Per dealer, with fob being that close, constantly interacting, it may be cause of drain. This was after they inspected the car and found nothing. I also put fob in battery saving mode if storing in close proximity. Skeptical at first but had no issues since.

Interesting. My key usually stays in the car since it sits in the garage.

i had a 16 GS 200t and I did the same for 3 years but the battery was fine

Last update for me on this issue .

Battery died again this morning, took it to the dealer and they ran some tests. It was borderline failing so they just replaced it under warranty.

The OEM battery in my wife's 2010 M35X is still very good. Believe it or not. The mileage of that M35X is less than 50K miles because most of the mileage is short trips (3-5 miles every trip and 3-5 trips a day)

I also own another Infiniti which is 2007 G35S. I changed its OEM battery about 6 year old. (Replace it only due to its age) Then I replace with one from Walmart and one from Costco and both only last three years. So I regret having changed the OEM battery now.
