Default Do Axle Back Exhaust systems make more power?

I'm thinking of picking up a GS-F soon and was starting to plan our my attack plan in regards to mods. I'm definitely thinking of an exhaust system, but my priorities are keeping the drone to a minimum but yielding more power. In that regards, I was wondering if the currently available axle back systems (Tanabe, Greddy, Apexi, etc) actually make more power? I find if suspicious that none of the manufacturer websites have any dyno sheets on the axle back systems, Any input would be appreciated.

Also, are there any aftermarket bolt on exhaust tips that may fit the stock mufflers? I'm not a fan of the stock exhaust tips.

If you search ebay, you will find many after market chinese tips of all sizes that will clamp onto your existing mufflers.
If you want a change in exhaust note, then an axle back system is your safest bet.

I don't think you will gain any power from it, but know of a few brands I have tried that have robbed me of power.

If you want some power for the least amount of money and noise, I would just do the mid-pipe. The Apexi mid-pipe is around 1000 dollars and deletes the 2nd cat which will free up some power while keeping sound in check as the pipe is resonated and you still retain OEM axle-back. I just have this mid-pipe and the sound is almost not much louder than OEM during normal driving and you only really feel the increase in sound if you drive it hard.

+1 mid pipe is the way to go. Axle back provides no noticeable power increase whatsoever.

I believe you'd get like 5 whp from an axle back. Nothing you can feel but should be gains compared to a restrictive stock exhaust.

But midpipe you would get more power than an axle back because of the deletion of the cats.

We can help you get an exhaust and are local !

I got my secondary cats deleted as well as resonators. There is a huge restriction on the exhaust mid-pipe. I still think there should be gains made by upgrading the axle back as well because of how much it shrinks down and the 90 degree bends.

Which one for more sound, axle back or midpipe? I’m leaning towards purchasing the Greddy exhaust.

If you do only mid pipe or only axle back, both won't add too much volume in terms of sound unless you get a mid pipe with no resonators like the miesterchaft one. Also I would not get greddy axle back, some members have said it actually robs away power, if you want to get an axle back for cheap, Tanabe is a good choice.

Got my tanabe exhaust and plan on running it with the apexi midpipe. Haven't seen anyone with that setup yet on GSF.

Sounds like the midpipe replacement alone would be the way to go in regards to adding power without adding drone.

Has anyone changed out the stock exhaust tips to something different while resting the stock axle-back?

I have a local customer with that setup. Tanabe and Apexi.

Honestly hard to tell between all the choices because almost everyone has the Apexi midpipe paired with either the Tanabe, Greedy or Toms.

I have learned my lesson over the last 17 years of modding Naturally aspirated V8's and V10's.
You want power? Headers, ECU programming and/or Forced Induction!

Nothing else will put a smile on your face, you can kid yourself all you want to justify giving away your money... but the truth.... you ain't gained $**t

Have you considered the JoeZ full exhaust?
