WOW - They used dino oil and charged you $114 Remember what Miss Daisy used to say? And BTW, synthetic oil is really the way to go. Many threads on this. I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum

Lou is this kind of oil bad for the engine? my dealer always use it everytime they do oil change. This is the first time I pay for the oil change because I'm done with the complimentary maintenance from lexus. Also I put low miles on my car like 2k miles in a year and do every 6 months oil change and filter.

$80.00 for Dino. It’s what the manual calls for. $63.00 with Lexus’s coupon.

No, it's not bad. It just won't last as long, lubricate as well or keep the engine as clean as synthetic. As I said many threads about oil on this site. And, many members get their oil analyzed by a lab, such as Blackstone.

But, if you change every 1K miles. dino is probably OK for you.

From what I read, Toyota 5W30 is not good. If you don’t drive the car too hard and change it out 6 months/5000 miles, it maybe OK. But the key is to make sure the mechanic didn’t overfill the oil. Check your dipstick. My dealership overfilled mine (an inch above the second dot) and they “topped off” the pink coolant above the full line (causing it to spill into my engine bay). I had to do an oil change myself to get it to the right amount, and suck out the coolant.

yeah everytime I do my maintenance sched at the dealer, I always tell the service advisor to makw a note not to overfill the oil and make sure the oil level is correct.. also coolant and other fluid not to overfill..no spill experience..
