Default bulletproof?

Been hemming and hawing still about what car to get. like the idea of getting a car and keeping it for 10 plus years. havent kept a car past 100k miles owning all german cars my life but wouldnt mind having one in the stable that i can not worry about. i know it only goes back to 2016, but is this one of those bulletproof lexuses that i can easily put 200k miles or am i barking up the wrong tree?

My '08 IS F has 170k+ miles on it. Bought it in December of '08. Everything still works just fine. I expect nothing less from my GS F. I just drove the IS F from Atlanta to Cedar Rapids (796 miles) in 11 1/2 hours each way by myself. Not even a small hiccup either direction.

Excuse me?
After owning so many amazing brand cars, you want to buy a cheap reliable Toyota????
You need a check up from the neck up brother!

Don't even think about it, go out there and buy that GSF you've been craving for deep down inside you!

It’s a Lexus, it’ll be reliable for as long as you take care of it.

Great. Thanks for the replies. Only problem is I test drove the LC500. That interior is amazing.

I think a great point that lobuxracer hinted at but wasn't explicitly stated is what contributes to this being a particularly reliable car. The GS platform in particular has been around a long time, and is tried-and-true; this generation of GS is actually from 2013. Point being that this isn't some new fancy shmancy model with tech that hasn't been tested and peripherals that may not last. There are plenty of 4th gen GS's on the road with hundreds of thousands of miles and a reputation for reliability.

The engine, the 2UR-GSE, has also been used in performance cars for over a decade, and while slightly improved now it's basically the same engine they used in the IS F. That thing is highly regarded and known for reliability, well within the standards that are expected of Lexus products.

Point being, this isn't just a reliable car by virtue of its badging, this platform and engine have been constantly evaluated and improved upon over the past decade plus, and while the GS has always been a reliable car and the engine is legendary, the GS F is somehow actually greater than the sum of its parts.

Yeah makes sense. I used to want to wait for the new version to come out but now I'm less concerned with that. Rather get a proven platform with the kinks worked out.
