Default Diminished value after accident.

Hi guys so my car got hit from the rear end and the trunk will need to get repainted and the diffuser and bumper replaced. The body shop has estimated the cost to be roughly $3500.
The GS F being what it is I’m expecting to take a hit when selling the car due to the history now showing damage. I reached out to the insurance company of the person who hit me to get paid for diminished value and their asking me to prove it?
Im looking for guidance as far has how I can prove to them how much value the car has lost due to the damage Vs. how much it’s worth without any damage history.

Its a 2018 red GS F with 6500 miles.

Thanks guys.

I’m actually interested in doing this myself, I was hit by a driver two years ago ( statute of limitations is three years in my state so I still have time) while parked and had my front bumper and headlights replaced. From what I understand you need to get an appraisal of diminished value and send that to the insurance company. If they aren’t willing to pay anything close to it you may have to hire a lawyer.

Your dealership may be able to give you a written statement of their assessment of diminished value if they were to buy the vehicle back from you having had an accident.

Because of my wife's accident record, I've been through this more than a few times. Do a quick Google search for either Diminished Value or Diminution of Value Appraisal in your area code. From free online tools to people you hire to write an appraisal, you'll soon have your answer!

Quick and painless.

Good luck!

Eric
