Default Spacers installation question

Getting my RSR coilovers installed right now and asked them to install h&r spacers ( 20mm drs) but they said to install the extended studs that came with the spacers it would require a lot of work and taking out the calipers and everything estimating up to 5 hours labor.

they also recommended not putting spacers with the stock wheels due to the connection with the lug nuts. I might just have to get new wheels.

anyone else install DRS spacers?

I never really liked spacers at all. It's always in the back of your mind that your wheels are going to fall off.

Replacing the original bolts to extend them are a pain, and I always question the stress it puts on the setup, and the quality of the bolt.

Then buying spacers without extended bolts, your lugs won't turn to spec and then your wheels really will be falling off.

I would buy some nice wheels that fit the car specs lowered and call it a day.

I am running 15mm and 20mm H&R DRS spacers, with stock wheels. They just need to be hubcentric, and you have to make sure to seat the new studs in correctly and you'll have no issues. The fronts don't require removal of the caliper or rotor (only the wheel off). The rears require removal of the caliper and rotor.

Agree, only necessary to remove rear calipers/rotors. I use H&R’s 15/20mm. Took me just over an hour. Btw, releasing Parking Brake (once safely on stands) makes it much easier to remove rotor... Also car being in Neutral makes rear hub easier to rotate (i’m a noob). Recommend using flexible claw tool to guide studs out once free (drop one into a hub and you’ll know why).

I'm guessing by "them" you mean your mechanic?

He's making it sound complicated so he can rip you off. Or he's incompetent in doing the job.

Find someone else.

Just buy the H&R DRM spacers then. No need to install extended studs
