Gsf gps
The GPS in my 2016 GSF has always been subpar. I complained about it to the dealer with no satisfaction.
Recently I again complained to the local Tech Specialist. I told him when I'm entering a street name, the keyboard is intuitive and removes the letters that it feels don't apply. Often that feature prohibits me from entering the street name, and there is no recourse. These are not new streets, like in a new subdivision. These are streets that have been in existence since before the first GPS satellite was put in orbit. Another problem I have been experiencing is once I enter the street name it asks for the address number. I start to enter 2214, as soon as I hit the first 2, the screen shows all the possibilities it knows, which in one case was 609. Once again with no recourse. In this case 609 was on the complete opposite end of town from 2214. I unknowingly drove right past 2214 as I was heading to 609.
The Tech Specialist says "I see here there is an update to your GPS. Just come by the parts department and purchase the update." "It's on an SD Card. Just plug it in to your car, and it will update for you." The update purchase price is $210.00. This is a $10.00, or $12.00 SD card and the click of a mouse. I think that price is beyond ridiculous. I can buy a brand new Garmin for $119.00. Which is a much better GPS. For like $50.00 I can get Lifetime Updates. Lexus Inc. is obviously not about repeat customers.

yes lexus Nav sucks, the update the tech is talking about is just a Map version and is NOT going to help you at all. you can install aftermarket products to get Waze/ or apple car play to your car screen but to be honest just hook you phone up to the car vent or dash and use the GPS off your phone- thats what I do. I dont think any car nav is as good as the google maps or Waze.

Auto manufacturers navigation systems lag smartphones by multiple generations. Lexus nav isn't something I would ever choose again because my phone is ridiculously better, has no cost upgrades constantly, and can be made to interface with the car if I really want it. I learned this lesson in 2006 when I got my IS350 with Levinson/navigation. The only reason the IS F and GS F have it is because it was already in the car. I'd've been perfectly happy without it. The only thing the OEM nav has over my phone is it can continue using wheel inputs in a place where there is no GPS signal (think underground/water tunnel), and I don't spend any measurable amount of time without a view of the birds in the sky.
Sorry you had your hopes set for this to work. It's not been my experience.
