Default Drove a 2020 GSF...disappointing

So I have a 2016 GSF and I Drove a 2020 GSF that was for sale at a dealer nearby. The 2020 I drove was a dealer demo so the dealer had put about 5000 miles on the odometer, and my car is a 2016 with 21,000 miles. My reason for driving the 2020 was to see if It would be worth upgrading to a later model year car if A nice example ever came up for the right price and if I am in a position where I’d want to trade in my 2016.

I have to say that in driving the two cars back to back I was pretty disappointed in the 2020. Car felt soft and disconnected compared to the 2016. I’ve never driven later model year cars But I have to say I much prefer the fixed rate dampeners that are on the 2016 compared to the adjustable ones that are on the later years. Maybe the adjustable dampener’s are better on track but for regular road driving and non-track purposes, I would say the 2016 is a much better and more cohesive vehicle. Obviously this is Just my opinion but I thought I would share in case somebody was in the market for a used car and was debating between the 2016 and a later model year car. I would also assume that the 2017 to 2020 model year cars drive similarly as they all have the adjustable suspension.

Not saying that The car sucks or anything, just that I much prefer the 2016 compared to the 2020.

Keep your 2016. And the mileage low. AVS is irrelwvant. Today, my buyer flew in from Cali to buy my car. We went to our local Lexus dealership where I had dropped it off couple days ago for a $200 full detail. Buyer waa originally planning to daily drive it. Changed his mind to keeping it as a weekend car once buyer saw my car and fell in love with it instantly. No test drive requested. He bought me lunch & I told him to take care of it!

Did you drive it in all modes? I like mine, but it has to be in sport or sport +. Normal it is very lux but disconnected.

Agreed. I have a 19 and sport is my DD mode and sport+ for spirited driving. My car never sees normal outside of start up.

I’ve always been curious about how good the adaptive variable suspension is.

i actually did bc that was the whole point of test driving the 2020. I adjusted the suspension through normal and sport through center vehicle settings menu and drove it through all the modes including sport and sport +.

Don’t get me wrong, the car was great, but I do like 2016 more. If you guys with 2017+ cars get a chance to drive a 2016, you’ll immediately know what I’m talking about. It’s night and day, but I can see some people preferring the adjustable suspension to the non adjustable.

Sport or Sport+ is the best way to drive the car, otherwise, it’s a boat.

Read so much about the GS F build quality. Comparing your low miles 2016 with the
2020 test car, did the new car feel that much “newer” ? ( or should I say , has the 2016 aged well? ).

I traded in my 2017 with 25k miles in for a brand new 2020. Feels exactly the same, no difference whatsoever.e

Great to hear! I plan on keeping my 2020 GS F a long time ...I say that whenever I get a new car but after a few years and about 20k miles the difference from new tends starts to become apparent, without tracking or abuse.

With the GS F I’m also seeing posts like yours with earlier model years trading for newer ones of the same model ..which means the model continues to be engaging .👍🏻

My car actually has aged really well. Maybe it has a little to do w/ the black interior wearing well and not showing it’s age as much.

the 2020 w/ 5k miles had the red interior which on a 5k car was in pretty good shape, obviously.

I actually think my car felt newer compared to a dealer demo. Lol. But the GSF def ages well

I’d probably keep mine as long as I can but if a good deal comes around in a few years and I’m at 100k miles, I’d be tempted to trade/sell and pick up another one even if it’s a later model year.

Interesting. Mine is at 25k and it has aged very well. I keep it quite clean though the seats are starting to darken a little (red).

One of the reasons why I bought a 2016 was due to the dampers. Most people mentioned that the newer systems are a nice gimmick but the Sachs dampers that come with the car are superb. I would agree- they are tuned just right for street and sporty driving. I've never felt like they were too soft yet they aren't racy like my coilovers on my weekender.

If they have android auto in the future I would think that's worth the up trade though.

Lol . Mine is black with black and white interior..I’m in love with it.
One thing that will definitely disappear is the new car smell . But I suppose can’t have everything .
