2016 GSF with "short block" replacement - considering purchasing. help!
Hello all,
I'm considering purchasing this 2016 Lexus GSF, with 39K miles for approx $47k.
The Carfax shows on 07/14/2020; "Vehicle serviced - Short block replaced" under the Lexus warranty.
Would you guys stay away from this car or should I brush it off and go for it? Need some opinions =)
For added context, I have a 2017 GS 350 RWD F-sport that I plan to trade-in if this deal goes through.
Appreciate the insight here.

- was told there was an 'oil consumption' issue and Lexus replaced the motor to resolve it. Would you still be concerned?
- what questions should a potential buyer (me) be asking the dealership about this fix?

I think that at the right price it would be worth considering, just like a heavily used car, a car with accident history, or a car from the LPDS or fleet vehicle or something. There's always an algorithm of "how sketchy of a history am i willing to deal with" versus "how much of a discount am i getting?"
This car has almost no discount. It's priced almost as if there have never been any issues; look on autotrader and you'll see that $47k for a clean 2016 with 40k miles is about right. Maybe even a decent deal. But that's ignoring the fact that it probably SHOULD be discounted considering the repair history. If it was listed at $40k then i would recommend considering it, but at this price it almost feels like the dealer is trying to conceal the history and sell it like any other 2016 GS F.

See if Lexus will certify it. If they will, it's not a bad deal. If they won't, it's a pass.
