I don’t think it brings anything to the table in being a GSF replacement. To be honest, I’d be more interested in purchasing a used ISF to throw around vs buying the IS500.

i ran into couple ISFs and we went for few miles admiring each others cars and I remember thinking how much I enjoyed the ISF when I onwed it. Honestly thats the most fun i ever had in a car.
i like my gsf but isf was the first love and they still look spectacular even for their age.

i would love to have a ISF too just to have it. Gsf+ISF is the dream garage

this is the isf

That’s a hard no to the IS500 for me. If I trade my GSF in for anything it’ll be an LC500 once I pick up an SUV as a second car.

I have been contemplating on trading mine for a LS500 F-sport. The IS500 maybe too small.

That's funny, I've been seriously thinking about moving on too, but my potential replacements have been all over the place, but the frontrunners are an LS500 F Sport and an LC. GTR may be running 3rd.

I'm waiting to see the new F models, hopefully they come with the rumored turbo V8's. Other than the infotainment, the GS-F to IS500 is a downgrade in my book, not gonna happen.

Agreed. IS models have a small back seat compared to GS models. I'll take the bigger back seat any day, and the additional features the GS F has from the factory really outshine the IS500 F Sport - oil cooler(s), better (more fade resistant) brakes, transmission cooler....Lots of stuff Lexus did to make the GS F not crumple at a track day where the IS500 F Sport might not be a happy camper after 10 laps or so.

Wow, no transmission and oil coolers, I guess that's where Lexus saved some cost to make the car cheaper. There was a video by Matt Farah on Youtube where he drove the LC500 on a mountain road, and he got the transmission overheat warning. In the video, he didn't seem to be pushing it 10/10, although no one knows how he was driving it when the cameras were off, but he somehow overheated the transmission at the end of the video. Some have pointed out that the LC500 lacked transmission cooler that are found on the GSF and RCF. So I guess with IS500 also has no coolers, it might just suffer the same fate, probably only gonna be good for a short burst of hard driving, rather than a more sustained performance driving.

it's been a few years since being on this forum but the IS 500 has brought me back and I'm enjoying all of the discussion. I remember when I had to get rid of my IS F for a bigger car (needed to fit two car seats in the back for my kids), I contemplated used GS F but I felt like it would be too similar in performance to my then IS F that I couldn't justify the jump and wanted to try something completely different, hence my current Porsche Macan. the Macan has been a great car, no issues, decent performance w/ my light mods, but I have always missed my old IS F. I would frequently peruse the used market for a GS F but yes, too rare and couldn't find anything to my liking. now w/ the IS 500, i'm ready to drop the Macan and get back into that NA V8. I just hope the price is right. don't really care for the LE because it'll probably be too rare to snag one. really hoping I can custom order the regular version, if that's even a thing w/ Lexus vehicles. (got used to the custom ordering system Porsche has where you can pick and choose every miniscule option to your liking.)

LC500 and IS500 aren't track ready cars and Lexus isn't making them track ready.

I think Lexus realized that the majority of RCF and GSF buyers do not track their cars, in fact most owners IMO made their cars less track worthy by doing appearance modifications. Most also only do straight line street races on the highway so no real need for those transmission coolers and track focused brakes etc.

This is where the IS500 will shine and I can pretty much guarantee that it will sell well. It removes most of the items that buyers aren't going to put to their potential and make the car more affordable while maintaining the engine.

As for me, I'm probably one of those rare individuals that care about track handling over raw horsepower numbers that the average American is obsessed about. I'll stick with my GSF
