I've seen some older posts where folks were charged under $100 (around $70) so I wanted to see if anyone has recent experience with this and if they were quoted around $140 as well. Thanks!

I work for an Acura dealership and we charge 1 hour of labor to program a key, @ $155 an hour and we charge $50 to cut the key as well. Sounds like that’s what they’re charging you. I don’t recall paying that much when they programmed mine at Lexus of New Orleans but that’s about the only good thing they’ve ever done for me. I had it done while I was getting my oil changed so maybe that’s why they cut me a break on labor charges.

i'm losing faith with this dealership and i heard the second closest to me isn't any better so i might just have to. it took them two hours to figure out they can't do it, and the SA said he's going to 'hit up his friend who has a gsf' to see how he did it but haven't heard from him over a week.
did you get a key card or just a standard fob for your gsf?

So there can be issues preventing you from programming a key. There is a GS F owner local to me who got a card key and I said bring it over and we'll get it done in a few minutes. Well, the key had already been programmed to another car, and Techstream refused to do anything with it. It was telling me to erase all the keys and start over. I didn't want to do something that crazy when he had working keys. He returned that key, and got a bonafide new one, and got it programmed without issues. The IS F has at least 4 different iterations of keys, and you absolutely need the one for your model year or it won't work. AMHIK. Thankfully the dealer I ordered the key from allowed me to return it and get the right key. It was programmed in just a few minutes (the actual programming process takes less than 5 minutes if you work slowly). I programmed credit card keys for my IS F and GS F. No magic at all as long as you have the right key. If they're following Techstream's instructions you have an issue with the key:
- The battery is dead.
- It's the wrong one for your model year.
- It's already been programmed to another car.
- It's just plain defective.

thanks for the context. i believe the dealership tried to program the 89904-30L50 without success. is it worth trying the korea spec 89904-30M10? i'm also not sure if there's something unique about the 2020 GSF so i started a separate thread to see if i can get a consensus from fellow 2020 owners

Check the key for the FCC ID. It should look like this:

i got a fob i bought off ebay. i believe they are all the same tech just different form factor. i have been using mobile lock smith after taken my previous car to the factory dealer and they were unable to program. that same fob was programmed by a mobile lock smiths within minutes. My recommendation is to look up a mobile lock smith in your area and have them try. most likley will not charged you if does not work.
