How important to you is having a manufacturer's warranty when buying a GS-F?
I have a 2017 Lexus GS-F that's still under warranty... for a week.
I'm going to purchase a Lexus Platinum warranty but I'm going back and forth on the years/mileage. I'm getting a really good deal from a well-known Toyota/Lexus dealer recommended on another thread (Jerry Johnson at Midwest Toyota).
I have about 28k miles on it currently and plan on keeping it for another 2 years MAX - I think after 3 years I'll be ready for something different.
At that timeframe, let's say I'll be at 55k miles when I'd be ready to sell.
In order of least to most expensive, the plans I'm looking at are:
Or do you think 1 yr / 20k miles of warranty provides enough peace of mind in order to buy it?

- 3 years / 75k miles $xxx
- 4 years / 75k miles $xxx + $145
- 3 years / 100k miles $xxx + $700
- 1 year + 20k miles or
- 2 years + 20k miles or
- 1 year + 45k miles

Not to dodge the question but I would put precedence on condition, service history, and owner engagement than a warranty. Apples to apples obviously go with the warranty car but not a deal breaker in most enthusiast's eyes.

Having original warranty remaining was VERY important to me during my buying process however I was not looking for someone’s ‘left-over’ extended warranty. It had to be the original OEM warranty PLUS pre-owned certification. People say it’s transferable but i simply didn’t want to chance it.
OP - if you’re in the market for extension, I’d solely do it if you think that piece of mind is worth it to you. Not for potential resale. You likely won’t be able to recoup any of that. It ‘may’ make your sell easier but i suspect next buyer wouldn’t pay penny more because it has remaining extended warranty. Just my thought.
of the options you’ve listed, I’d go with 4 yrs/75k miles option b/c i wouldn’t do more than 12k-14k miles per year so other two options wouldn’t work for me.
good luck!
