Lightbulb Sound System, heres what i did.

so we all know that the 4 tiny speakers in the gs sounded horrible when you turn up the volume, yes i replaced mine with infinity kapa's all four of them but still when i turn up the volume it sounded not the best to my liking, si i got me some infinity kapa's 6x9s ($200) and had me a great monday.

here's what i did, i took a pic when ever i remember to snap one...

this is what i started with, remove the seats, and trunk lining first, if you don't know how to do that, stop right here.!

1.

the back lid has a few plastic clips holding it, theyre easy to see when you remove the back seat, 3 small plastic clips.

i removed these square cut outs to give me more space, just push from the bottom up, and they should pop open, if not give it a little hit.

now mesure twice and cut once, i placed the speakers semi in the center on each side.

since these speakers have a pretty big magnet, i cut some more out of the back lid, to make sure they dont ratle of tuch anything besides the back board lid.

now the back lid was very easy to cut, a(since its so old are dry ) so be very carefull i used an carpet knife, cut the size and then just broke it off.

here is a view from the trunk, what you see there is an 10" pioneer premier slim sub, the two 6x9s infinity kapa, and an 2 channelcrunch 1100 watts amp, the amp is turned down all the way, one channel i used for the sub and the other channel i used for both of the 6x9s.

and heres what it looks like with everything in place, i didnt take a pic from outside the car because i have the ugly tint pealing and i still need to get rid off.

and heres my power acustic head unit, pretty cheap unit does the work, i also did the CF wrap on the car!

AND THE RESULT OF ALL THIS!

iam glad i took this time to do this, the sound system now sounds great through out, lows sound great, mids sound great, and so do the highs!

ahmm the rear viev mirror now shakes, and idk if i like that. nice crystal clear sound!

Very well done in the back. I was about to ask what's going on up front. I think a pair of properly fed quality 6.5 inch speakers would fill up your front imbalance. You might have to rewire the amp signal some, but it all depends on what amp(s) you'll use.

thats my next step, finding a decent amp for mids and highs, and yeah i thought about 6.5 as well, il look in to some infinity kapas 6.5, iam not that great at sound systems ect, but these 5x9s by infinity blew me away how the sound quality is.

what do you guys use for ur mids highs amp wise?

i got a really nice crunch 1100 watts amp for my 10" pioneer sub, but i think i wanna run a tottaly diff amp for the doors and the rear 5x9s.

Any more progress? I'm interested to know if and how will you make 6.5's fit in there, as the car came with 4's on the front doors.

The 5.25 fit easy. You could make it fit. Grind it down to fit the speaker.
